Fact Check: Did Donald Trump post ‘We have won’ amid the Iran war?
WASHINGTON, DC: As the conflict in the Middle East continues to escalate, a claim has been circulating on social media platforms, claiming to show a post by President Donald Trump, who posted about winning the war in Iran, sparking speculations and confusion amongst netizens. Let us analyze the alleged post and fact-check its authenticity.
Claim: Donald Trump posts about winning Iran war
The claim surfaced as a screenshot claimed to be a post by Trump on his official Truth Social handle. The post reads, “Folks, we've WON the Iran thing-BIGLY! Total domination, their nuclear stuff is GONE, nothing left, practically rubble."
"I said from Day 1: We're ending this FAST. Expect some relief next week, maybe even sooner-because I'M the greatest dealmaker. But if those losers in Tehran even THINK about acting up again... oh boy, get ready for the MOST BEAUTIFUL, PRECISION second phase you've ever seen."
"Nobody does war-and peace-better than me! WE WON, people are saying it everywhere. Tremendous! America is SAFE again. #MAGA.”
The purported screenshot has been shared by various social media accounts, garnering millions of views, as many accept it to be authentic.
Fact Check: Fake, Donald Trump did not post it
However, the screenshot is fake and is intended as a satire. A search on the president’s official Truth Social handle, or X commentary page that reposts the updates on Truth Social, yielded no results that match the words in the screenshot.
Moreover, there is also a small overlay text in the bottom right of the screenshot, written ‘satire.’
A fact check by Grok even confirmed it to be fake, stating, “The tweet from @InvestmentBook1 (posted March 19, 2026) shows a fake screenshot styled like a Trump Truth Social post claiming a 'BIGLY' U.S. victory over Iran, complete with exaggerated MAGA phrasing like 'greatest dealmaker ever' and ‘#MAGA forever.’”
War in Iran is coming to an end, according to Donald Trump
Trump said the conflict with Iran was nearing its end, asserting that American forces had 'obliterated' much of Tehran’s military capability.
He claimed Iran’s navy, air force, and key defense systems had been largely destroyed, adding that US forces were operating freely in Iranian airspace and were 'substantially ahead of schedule.'
Defending the massive $200 billion funding proposal, Trump said it extended beyond the Iran war and reflected the need to rebuild military capacity.
"We have the strongest military in the world...The other night, they had 114 rockets shot at a certain location—highly sophisticated rockets...every single one of them was shot down with our equipment...It's a small price to pay to make sure that we stay tippy top," he said.'
