AUSTIN, TEXAS: Over the past few months, Elon Musk's social media posts have made headlines, especially since Donald Trump won the 2024 presidential elections. Many posts by the Tesla and SpaceX CEO raised eyebrows while some which went viral were debunked later.

Recently, a rumor online claimed that Musk posted on X that "billionaires are tired of subsidizing" public services. But is there any truth to this? Let us find out below.

Claim: Elon Musk posted 'billionaires are tired of subsidizing' public services

In February, a post went viral across social media platforms claiming that the Tesla magnate wrote about his fellow billionaires' feelings about contributing to public services.

The viral post, claimed to be posted by Musk, read, "Here's the hard truth: this country's billionaires are tired of subsidizing everyone else's schools, parks, health care, even food and entertainment. You want nature? Buy some land. Health care? Befriend a doctor. Entertainment? Roll around in the mud with your fellow pigs."

The rumored claim quickly spread across multiple social media platforms, including Facebook and X.

An X user shared the post and captioned it, "So according to @elonmusk if you’re not a #BILLIONAIRE then you’re a pig. Guess we’re all #rollinginthemud."

False: Elon Musk never made any such post on X

The claim made in the online post is completely false as Elon Musk never posted such words on X. The post was not present on Musk's X timeline and no major media outlets reported on any such quote, according to Snopes.

Moreover, a quick Google search of the quote did not show any reliable results, the outlet reported.

Furthermore, the post which was also shared on Reddit was labeled as Fake News, and the subreddit 'r/ToiletPaperUSA' bio read, "**Official Subreddit of TPUSA.** All posts in this subreddit should be considered ironic/parodic/satirical unless they are flaired as \*REAL\* *and* have a relevant, trustworthy source in the comments (which should be your standard for all internet content anyway)."

Elon Musk says he’s sleeping in DOGE office

The Tesla CEO reportedly told many people last month that he’s been sleeping at the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE headquarters in Washington, DC.

Interestingly, the DOGE office is inside the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, roughly four minutes from the West Wing on foot, per Daily News.

The tech billionaire reportedly told his friends during a black tie event in January that he had been invited to sleep in the Lincoln Bedroom inside the White House itself, according to Wired.

Notably, the SpaceX CEO became close to Trump after spending more than $250 million to help get the Republican leader reelected, per the outlet.
