WASHINGTON, DC: Elon Musk made headlines as he was accompanied by his four-year-old son X to the White House on Tuesday, February 11, to discuss some bureaucratic shake-ups. Musk's son was also seen chatting with President Donald Trump.

Following the interaction, several social media users posted the viral moment on X (formerly Twitter) and claimed that the SpaceX CEO's son told Donald Trump to "shush your mouth" and to "go away." But is there any truth to this? Let us find out below.

Claim: Elon Musk's son X told Donald Trump to 'go away' in viral clip

Many social media users brought up their versions of the interaction between X and Trump and claimed that the four-year-old was not being polite to the President.

A user wrote sharing the viral moment, "Elon Musk's son tells Trump, “You’re not the President and you need to go away.”"

Another person took to the social media platform and claimed, "I want you to shush your mouth."

Moreover, a user also wrote, "Elon Musk's son told Trump to shut up. Either Elon Musk speaks to his son this way, or he speaks to Trump that way."

Interestingly, several such claims were made on social media posts that received millions of views.

No proof to back claims that X said those statements to Donald Trump

The claims made in the viral clip are not completely true as there is no clear evidence to back the claim that X said these words to the president.

Moreover, when he said these, Elon Musk's voice masked the audio of his son's voice, and what the SpaceX CEO's son said is only partially audible, according to Snopes.

The claim can be divided into two parts. The first part, where he said, "You're not the president … you need to go away," is not accurate. The words that Snopes could confirm were "to go away." However, X seemed to look at Trump at first, but his eyes drifted while he spoke.

Similarly, the second part, where he said, "I want you to shush your mouth," could be partially accurate, but there is no proof he was looking at Trump at any point while saying this.

Moreover, he could have said that but beyond Trump, likely where reporters stood, according to Snopes.

Furthermore, the only person audibly speaking at the time was Elon Musk.

Grimes criticizes Elon Musk for taking X to Oval Office briefing

Elon Musk's former partner Grimes criticized the Tesla CEO for taking their four-year-old son to the Oval Office briefing. She took to social media and wrote, "He should not be in public like this. I did not see this, thank u for alerting me. But I'm glad he was polite. Sigh."

Musk carried X on his shoulders as he spoke to journalists about his role as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Musk called out bureaucrats for allegedly making shady money moves. He told reporters, "We do find it sort of odd that, you know, there are quite a few people in the bureaucracy who have ostensibly a salary of a few hundred thousand dollars but somehow managed to accrue tens of millions of dollars in net worth while they are in that position."

He added, "Which is what happened in USAID. We're just curious as to where it came from. Maybe they're very good at investing, in which case we should take their investment advice perhaps."
