WASHINGTON, DC: Amid growing chatter on X about the 2028 presidential election and a wave of posts speculating about potential candidates, social media users have recently added MrBeast to the list of names being discussed. A viral post even claimed that MrBeast has announced a 2028 presidential run. In recent weeks, other widely circulated names have included Gavin Newsom, JD Vance, Kamala Harris, and Michelle Obama. Let’s fact-check this claim.

Claim: MrBeast announced his 2028 presidential bid

According to a Hoops Crave X post dated April 24, the account claimed, “MrBeast announced he will run in the 2028 presidential election.” The post included an image of him in a tuxedo at a Breakthrough Prize event backdrop.

The claim gained attention online, partly because MrBeast has previously joked about politics on several occasions.

In July 2024, he posted, “If we lower the age to run for president I’ll jump in the race.” He later clarified that he would aim to focus on unity, avoid strict party alignment, seek advice from experts across the political spectrum, and prioritize Americans’ interests, adding humorously, “we can pick this up in 15 years when I’m old enough to run haha.”

In a December 2024 podcast appearance on Theo Von’s show, he again mentioned interest in politics but said he would likely wait until his 50s or 60s after achieving more in business. Earlier remarks from 2020–2023 also reflected similar joking speculation about whether people would vote for him.

Fact Check: MrBeast did not announce 2028 run

The viral claim that MrBeast is running for the 2028 US presidential election is false and appears to be satirical clickbait. While the post spread widely and some users reacted as if it were real, others quickly identified it as a joke.

The claim originated from the X account @HoopsCrave, which is known for posting pop culture satire and is not affiliated with MrBeast. The account also indicates in its profile that its content is not meant to be taken as factual reporting.

In addition, US constitutional requirements make the claim implausible. Under Article II, Section 1 of the US Constitution, a presidential candidate must be a natural-born citizen, at least 35 years old, and have lived in the United States for at least 14 years. MrBeast (Jimmy Donaldson), born on May 7, 1998, will not meet the minimum age requirement until 2033, making him eligible for a presidential run no earlier than the 2036 election cycle.

MrBeast has occasionally joked about politics in the past, but always in a lighthearted or hypothetical way, often acknowledging his age and lack of political experience. He has never announced a campaign, formal political plans, or a 2028 presidential run.

Therefore, the claim is based on internet satire and exaggerated interpretations of his past comments, rather than any real political development.
