WASHINGTON, DC: A claim that Olympic gymnast Simone Biles mocked conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s death in a blog post has spread widely on social media.

The rumor took off after a Facebook post alleged that Biles had published a “raw, emotional” response following Kirk’s assassination.

The confusion appears to stem from past tensions between Biles and Kirk, who publicly criticized her during the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

Claim: Simone Biles wrote a blog post mocking Charlie Kirk after his death

On Thursday, a viral Facebook post suggested Biles had finally spoken out against Kirk in a blog entry titled: 'The Unwritten Rule Is Broken: Simone Biles’s Posthumous Rebuke of Charlie Kirk Ignites a Moral Civil War'.

“SHE WAITED YEARS TO HAVE THE FINAL WORD. After Charlie Kirk publicly branded her a ‘national disgrace’ in 2021, Simone Biles remained largely silent," the caption of the post read along with the Blog link and has since widely been circulated on social media platforms.

"Now, following his death, she has finally responded with a raw, emotional post detailing the personal hell he put her through. Millions are calling it the most courageous and necessary clapback in sports history. Decide for yourself if this was an act of bravery or a step too far,” the caption further read.

One line claimed: “The blog arrived like a lightning strike, sending shockwaves through both the sports and political landscapes.”

Another read: “Simone Biles, the greatest gymnast of all time, has just provided the answer, and it has plunged the world into a moral firestorm.”

Fact Check: The article was AI-generated with no link to Simone Biles

The viral post is linked not to Biles' blog but to an AI-generated article. The piece was filled with vague, dramatic language and offered no specifics, sources, or connection to the gymnast.

It has since been confirmed that Biles did not publish any blog post in response to Kirk’s death.

The misleading claim was rooted in Kirk’s past remarks about Biles. Because Kirk had once called Biles a “sociopath” and “a shame to the country” after she withdrew from the Olympics, many users believed the blog was real and interpreted it as a clapback at Kirk’s death.

In 2021, he blamed her for Russia’s victory in the women’s finals, called her “immature,” and said the US was “raising a generation of weak people like Simone Biles.”

Those earlier comments appear to have fueled belief in the fake blog post, but no verified evidence links Biles to any reaction after Kirk’s killing.

Charlie Kirk’s death and aftermath

The assassination shocked the country and led to widespread tributes. On Thursday, Turning Point USA announced Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, as its new CEO.

“Charlie prepared all of us for a moment like this one. He worked tirelessly to ensure Turning Point USA was built to survive even the greatest tests. And now, it is our great pride to announce Erika Kirk as the new CEO and Chair of the Board for Turning Point USA,” the board said in a statement.
