SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA: Earlier this month, a widely circulated account began spreading online claiming that the FBI and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) carried out a dramatic d*ug enforcement raid on a private island in California, allegedly owned by a Somali couple, during which 450 children were rescued.

Let us fact-check the authenticity of the claim.

Claim: Federal agents rescued children from a private island

On January 4, a user managing a YouTube channel with the misspelled display name MIilitary Insight (@Militaryinsight1-w2t), which features a profile image that misspells the channel’s name as “Milliatry Insight,” posted a video titled “FBI & DEA Raid Somali Elites Couple ‘Luxury Island’ in CA — 450 Children Rescued | FBI Files.”

The video received hundreds of thousands of views.

The thumbnail image displayed a CNBC TV chyron proclaiming “breaking news” and “450 children rescued.”

The image above the chyron showed a handcuffed man and woman flanked by armed FBI agents, standing in front of a yacht, with a US. Navy–style boat visible in the distance.

Fact Check: False, the story is fake

The story is fake, as no credible news media outlets or independent political blogs have reported any federal officials rescuing 450 captive children.

Similar searches also did not locate any island near California named Serenity Cove. Further, CNBC did not broadcast or publish any such content.

The only Hope Horizon International organization found in search results identified itself as a health care startup and is not related to the video’s fictional story.

The thumbnail image is also AI-generated, as confirmed by the Google Gemini AI tool, which verified through its SynthID detector that the image originated from AI-generated content.

The narrator’s voice and the script also appear to be possibly generated by AI.

Footage in the video does not match the claim

The video featured footage that did not closely match the story, including clips showing President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accompanied by narration.

According to the video, a privately owned island off the California coast named Serenity Cove was raided by the FBI, DEA, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The agents allegedly rescued 450 children and uncovered the couple’s plot, which the narrator claimed resulted in the disappearance of at least 3,412 children.

The couple, identified as Amina Hassan Osman and Ibrahim Khaled Rasheed, who were said to own the foundation Hope Horizon International, were allegedly captured.
