WASHINGTON, DC: A viral claim on X (formerly Twitter) alleging that a pop-up exhibit titled "The Donald J. Trump and Jeffrey Epstein Memorial Reading Room" has arrived in Washington, DC, ahead of President Donald Trump's 80th birthday has sparked widespread speculation.

The claim gained traction amid preparations for Trump's June 14 birthday celebration, which coincides with Flag Day and forms part of broader events marking America's 250th anniversary. Among the planned festivities is UFC Freedom 250, a mixed martial arts event set to become the first major professional sporting event held on the White House South Lawn. But is the purported reading room real, or is the viral claim misleading?

Claim: 'The Donald J Trump and Jeffrey Epstein Reading Room' has arrived in Washington, DC

An X user, Aaron Parnas, shared a post about a temporary pop-up exhibit titled "The Donald J. Trump and Jeffrey Epstein Memorial Reading Room," which purportedly opened in Washington, DC's Chinatown neighborhood. The exhibit apparently features more than 3,400 bound volumes containing approximately 3.5 million pages of unsealed Department of Justice records related to Epstein and his associates.

The nonprofit Institute for Primary Facts is behind the exhibit, which includes a large timeline featuring photos, documents, and records that show the history of Trump's and Epstein's social relationship in New York and Palm Beach dating back to 1987.

Organizers previously displayed the exhibit in Tribeca, New York, before bringing it to Washington.

According to the exhibit's signage, its purpose is to encourage visitors to examine the documented history of Epstein's network, honor survivors, and support efforts aimed at accountability.

Fact Check: True, the exhibit will be in DC from June 9 to June 12, 2026

The claim that the "Donald J. Trump and Jeffrey Epstein Memorial Reading Room" arrived in Washington, DC, for President Donald Trump's birthday is largely accurate, although the exhibit is not an official government installation or part of any birthday celebration.

It is a temporary pop-up project organized by the nonprofit Institute for Primary Facts and is scheduled to operate in Washington, DC, from June 9 to June 12, 2026, just days before Trump's 80th birthday on June 14.

According to the organizers, the project aims to highlight and preserve public access to records related to Epstein and his associates.

The institute describes the installation as a public archive containing all 3.5 million pages of unsealed court records and Department of Justice investigative files related to Epstein. Organizers say they printed and bound the records into 3,437 individual volumes weighing over 17,000 pounds.

The DC exhibit marks the reading room's second stop following a previous installation in New York City. Organizers say nearly 10,000 people visited the exhibit during its two-week run, while more than 85 million people viewed related content online. They also plan to take the project on a nationwide tour after its Washington stop.

In a statement, Institute for Primary Facts organizer David Garrett said the exhibit was designed to make the scale of the records more tangible to the public. He argued that presenting the documents in a physical space allows visitors to better grasp the volume of evidence and helps ensure that the records remain accessible and part of the public historical record.
