WASHINGTON, DC: A bizarre claim circulating on social media and reposted by fringe sites alleges that a 'top oil company executive' said President Donald Trump 'smelled like rotten roast beef' and farted audibly during a high-profile White House meeting with oil industry leaders.

The sensational wording has spread widely, prompting debate and mockery online.

The concerns and speculations around Donald Trump’s health and physical capabilities have been growing and have been a topic of a lot of similar rumors.

Claim: Top oil company executive said President Trump 'smelled like rotten roast beef'

People on X and other social media are sharing stories about a White House meeting of Trump and oil executives.

Supposedly, while talking with oil executives about Venezuelan oil, a company leader claimed Trump smelled like 'rotten roast beef.' They also said he kept farting and acted weird the whole time.

These posts share the story like it’s a real scoop from anonymous insiders and actual news reports.

The January 10, 2026 X post was published by The Halfway Post and read:

“BREAKING: A top oil company executive says Donald Trump "smelled like rotten roast beef'" during his big White House meeting on Venezuela, he farted audibly no less than a dozen times, and he kept getting up to look at and compliment the nonexistent ballroom like he's senile.”

Fact Check: False, claim stems from a satirical post, not real reporting

Turns out, that popular post about Trump smelling like 'rotten roast beef' came from a social account called The Halfway Post. Right in their bio, they say they make 'comedy and satire,' not real news.

“Dadaist graffiti news. Halfway true comedy and satire for your doomscrolling by @DashMacIntyre. I don't report the facts, I improve them”, their bio reads.

On January 10, 2026, they posted a joke claiming an oil executive said Trump smelled bad, along with some other wild stuff. No real news outlets have reported anything like this.

After conducting a search of a number of news sources for coverage of an oil executive making these remarks about Trump, no reports could be found documenting the alleged remarks or attributing them to any real executive or named source.

A comment like that from a major industry leader at a White House meeting would almost certainly have been picked up by multiple mainstream media outlets had it occurred.

The Halfway Post account clearly describes itself in its profile as focusing on satire and exaggerated content, not factual news reporting

Thus, no, a top oil company executive never said Donald Trump 'smelled like rotten roast beef' or farted loudly during a White House meeting.

That whole story started as a joke on a comedy account. Real news outlets never reported it, and there’s no actual evidence backing up that wild quote.
