WASHINGTON, DC: In late November 2025, a rumor circulated across social media claiming that lawyer Mike Davis, an ally of President Donald Trump, used inappropriate words at Rep Gabby Giffords.

The rumor added that Davis took this step in response to Giffords' post about slain National Guard Sarah Beckstrom, who was fatally shot by an Afghan national in DC last month. But is there any truth to this rumor? Let us find out below.

Claim: Mike Davis swore at Gabby Giffords for posting about slain National Guard member

A Threads user wrote on the social media platform, "Mike Davis really told Gabby Giffords—a gun violence survivor—to 'f**k off' for speaking out against gun violence. She was shot in the head and survived. If anyone has earned the right to be heard on this issue, it’s her."

Similarly, another user wrote, "Here in Arizona we appreciate, and respect, our Senators! But, we ADORE Gabby Giffords! If you mess with Gabby, you mess with ALL of us! Mike Davis is a POS who deserves all the misery that karma sends his way!"

Moreover, a Facebook post read, "Mike Davis used a profanity-laced tweet to tell former congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords to 'f**k off' after she shared condolences for a National Guard member killed in a shooting and called for action against gun violence."

"Coming after Giffords is not just insensitive, it is obscene. This is a woman whose skull was shattered while doing basic democracy talking with voters in a grocery store parking lot," the post further read.

Giffords was severely injured in a 2011 mass shooting that killed six people and injured several others. The incident left her with a traumatic brain injury that affected her movement and speech.

According to social media users, Davis swore at Giffords in response to her offering condolences to Beckstrom's loved ones and calling for action against gun violence.

True: Mike Davis used derogatory words against Gabby Giffords

The claims made in the online rumor are true, as Mike Davis did swear at Gabby Giffords in a social media post. He made the post from his X account on November 28, while responding to Giffords' post.

Paying condolences to Beckstrom and her family, Giffords wrote on X, "Specialist Sarah Beckstrom deserved a long, full life. My heart is with her family, friends, and fellow servicemembers. Gun violence steals too many futures. We must honor her by fighting for a safer country—one where all Americans are protected from gun violence."

Meanwhile, Davis wrote in response to her post, "Gun violence??? F**k off, Gabby. The real problem is your piece-of-s**t husband @SenMarkKelly and other Democrats, who mass-import t******, demonize the National Guard members saving cities, and call on 18-year-old enlistees to disobey the President of the United States."

Davis seemingly referred to a video shared on Facebook last month where six Democratic members of Congress, including Sen Mark Kelly of Arizona — Giffords' husband — urged US service members to "refuse illegal orders".

Sarah Beckstrom's father calls daughter's death 'horrible tragedy' in emotional post

The father of late Sarah Beckstrom, Gary Beckstrom, shared his thoughts on Facebook on November 28 and wrote that his "baby girl" had passed to "glory" and termed the incident a "horrible tragedy".

Sarah Beckstrom and Andrew Wolfe, members of the National Guard deployed in Washington, DC, were ambushed by an Afghan native near the White House on November 26. They were rushed to the hospital, and Beckstrom later succumbed to her injuries.

She was admitted to the hospital soon after the attack and was accompanied by her family, who spent their last Thanksgiving with their daughter.

In his Facebook post after his daughter’s passing, Gary Beckstrom asked people not to be offended if he didn’t speak to them during the difficult time.
