Fact Check: Did Trump demand a second consecutive Peace Prize from FIFA for this year?
WASHINGTON, DC: Amid the ongoing FIFA World Cup, a rumor began circulating on social media platforms claiming that President Donald Trump has demanded a second consecutive Peace Prize from the organization this year, sparking mockery and speculation. Let us analyze the origins of the viral rumor and fact-check the claim's authenticity.
Claim: Donald Trump demands second FIFA Peace Prize
According to a post that surfaced on X, Donald Trump is reportedly demanding Fédération Internationale de Football Association give him a second consecutive Peace Prize this year so he can have twice as many FIFA Peace Prizes as Obama has Nobel Peace Prizes.
The post has garnered more than fifty thousand views as of this writing, triggering mixed reactions from online users. While many appeared to mock and criticise the president for his alleged demand, a few others supported it.
Meanwhile, some users remained skeptical and questioned the claim’s authenticity, prompting a fact check.
Fact Check: False, the claim originated as satire
The claim, however, is false, as there are no credible reports about the president making such a demand from the international self-regulatory governing body.
A search on Google for the claim or a remark by Trump yielded no credible reports by prominent news media outlets, which, if true, would have made headlines, given Trump's demand for the Nobel Peace Prize for claiming to have ended several global conflicts.
Additionally, the claim was posted by an X account called ‘The Halfway Crave,’ which describes itself in the bio as ‘Satire.’ Hence, the claim is rated as a parody made for the sake of engagement.
A fact check by Grok confirmed this, stating, “The post is satirical fiction from a comedy account. Donald Trump was awarded the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize in December 2025 by FIFA president Gianni Infantino, but there is no credible report of him demanding a second consecutive prize this year.”
Donald Trump renews Nobel Prize claim
The claim surfaced after Trump repeated his claims of ending conflict and said that he deserves a Nobel Prize.
Recently, Trump took credit for ending eight ongoing conflicts during a press gaggle aboard Air Force One returning from the NATO summit in Turkey, including the war between Congo and Rwanda, which he claimed had resulted in 15 million people being killed in gruesome circumstances over 14 years.
He said, "Eight. Wars that were going on for 30 years. Even if you look in the Congo. The Congo vs Rwanda. I settled it after 14 years, and about 15 million people had their heads chopped off. I settled that one. I settled eight wars."
