WASHINGTON, DC: Since Donald Trump took office in January for his second run as the president, he has signed several executive orders, some of which have also been criticized by left-wing critics. At the time of writing, the 79-year-old had signed 209 executive orders since returning to the White House, 26 of which were signed on his first day back as POTUS.

Recently, posts claiming that the Republican leader signed an executive order demanding that Universal Music Group sign his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, have been circulating on social media. But is there any truth to this? Let's find out below.

Claim: Donald Trump signed executive order demanding Universal Music Group sign Lara

In early October 2025, an X (formerly Twitter) user shared a post that looked like it was posted by the White House and read, "For too long woke Record Companies have prioritized the music of non-Americans such as 'Bad Bunny' and 'Jennifer Lopez' That's why today President Trump signed an executive order demanding Universal Music Group sign Lara Trump to a multi-album record deal. Together we will make American Music Great Again! Delivering for America!"

The post, made on October 6, seemed to have gathered attention online, as it surpassed more that 1 million views so far.

Fact Check: The claim originates from a self-described parody account

The claim seems to be false as the viral post was made by a self-described parody account on X and has no basis in reality.

Moreover, the White House website does not mention such an executive order. Trump also has not posted anything about it on his Truth Social account.

The White House website's Briefings & Statements page, where presidential actions are announced, does not mention POTUS signing an order demanding the record company sign Lara.

Furthermore, searches on search engines, such as Google and Bing, showed no results from any credible news outlet covering such a story.

If the rumor was true, several news outlets would have covered it.

Another rumor about Trump's executive order surfaced in the past

This is not the first time a rumor about Donald Trump signing an executive order has surfaced online.

In April 2025, a rumor circulated online claiming that Trump's executive order titled "Reinstating Common Sense School Discipline Policies" permits corporal punishment in schools.

A viral TikTok video claimed, "Today Trump issued Executive Order allowing Teachers to physically 'discipline' students."

Meanwhile, an X user also shared a clip of Trump apparently signing the executive order and captioned it, "Trump signs an EO to make it easier for teachers to beat children."

However, the claims were debunked, as Trump's executive order does not explicitly address teachers using physical force to punish students. Instead, his EO requests new federal guidance to revoke previous policies aimed at reducing racial disparities in school discipline.
