PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA: The Chicago Bulls have waived guard Jaden Ivey following a series of controversial Instagram Live comments targeting the LGBTQ community, Pride Month, abortion, and Catholicism. Amid the backlash, a viral video has circulated online suggesting that Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey supported Ivey, but did he really?

Claim: Tyrese Maxey stands with Jaden Ivey

A video claiming to show Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey supporting Jaden Ivey has gone viral on social media. In the clip, Maxey appears to speak to reporters from the locker room, with the quote attributed to him: “I stand with Jaden Ivey on everything he said. If they cut him, they might as well cut me too."

Within hours, the video racked up over 1.8 million views and sparked a heated debate in the comments. One user wrote, "No he didn’t say that in this video clip @grok @gork fact check please,"

While another, who believed the claim, posted, "Proud of his truth! There's so little of it in the NBA!"

A third added, "Real homies."

The discussion between believers and skeptics quickly went viral. Notably, the same account also shared another video claiming Maxey said he had no regrets about supporting Ivey in an ESPN interview.

Fact Check: False, Tyrese Maxey did not support Jaden Ivey

Although the video went viral with many believing Tyrese Maxey supported Jaden Ivey, he did not make any such statement. The clip was shared out of context—Maxey was actually talking about a dunk by his teammate Anthony Edwards, not Ivey. A community note on the viral X post clarified: "The video shows Tyrese Maxey discussing his dunk on Anthony Edwards, not comments on Jaden Ivey being waived by the Bulls."

In the video, Maxey actually said about the game: “Well, good man, we need it. We just need lessons, emotions out man in the last week or so, and I think we did that tonight. Let my emotions all play the right way. God stepped up, made shots, and defended the coach's performance. Amazing dunk.”

Notably, another video shared by the same account claimed that Maxey said in an ESPN interview he had no regrets about supporting Ivey. This video is also fake, and Maxey never made such comments.

What did Jaden Ivey claim?

Ivey made controversial comments during several Instagram Live sessions on Monday, March 30, addressing topics like the LGBTQ community, abortion, Pride Month, and more.

He called lesbian pregnancies 'unrighteous' and claimed they 'can't happen' because 'they have the same body parts.' He also criticized the NBA for celebrating Pride Month, saying: “The world proclaims LGBTQ, right? They proclaim Pride Month and the NBA does too. They show it to the world. They say, ‘Come join us for Pride Month, to celebrate unrighteousness.’”

Ivey also attacked Catholicism, calling it a 'fake religion,' and said his former team, the Detroit Pistons, would be 'irreverent' on Judgment Day.
