Fact Check: Has Diddy been released from prison early for good behavior?
FORT DIX, NEW JERSEY: In July 2025, a federal jury in New York convicted Sean 'Diddy' Combs on two counts of transportation to engage in pr*****on, and was acquitted on the more serious charges of racketeering conspiracy and s** trafficking.
In mid-February, a rumor circulated across social media claiming that Diddy had been released from prison due to his 'good behavior'. But is there any truth to this? Let us find out below.
Claim: Diddy released from prison early for good behavior
An X post on Monday, February 17, claimed, "Diddy has been released from prison early due to good behavior." The post garnered more than 980,000 views, and more than 3,000 users reacted to the viral post. It also had a picture of Diddy.
On October 3, 2025, Diddy was sentenced to 50 months in prison, along with a $500,000 fine and five years of supervised release. He also received credit for roughly 13–14 months already served in pretrial detention at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

This remains a high-profile case with ongoing civil lawsuits, but the federal criminal conviction is limited to the two pr*****ion-related counts. Moreover, no major changes have occurred since late 2025.
Fact Check: False, post originated from a parody account
The claim made in the online post is false, as Sean 'Diddy' Combs is still incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Fort Dix, a low-security federal prison in New Jersey.
The post originated from @HoopsCrave, which is a parody account, and posts like this are common clickbait or satirical content from such accounts.
Multiple recent sources, as of mid–February 2026, confirm he remains at Fort Dix, with details on prison life, menus, and his appeal. Good behavior and programs can shorten federal sentences, but nothing has resulted in his release as of now.
Diddy's projected release date, as per Bureau of Prisons records, is June 4, 2028. The date was pushed back slightly from an initial May 2028 projection.
Moreover, Diddy is participating in programs like the Residential D**g Abuse Treatment Program (RDAP), which could reduce his time by up to 12 months for good behavior and completion.
As of February 2026, no pardon or commutation has been granted. Diddy appealed the conviction and sentence, and argued it was unlawful/unconstitutional. The US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit fast-tracked the case.
His oral arguments are scheduled for April 9, 2026. His team sought immediate release pending appeal or resentencing, but he remains incarcerated. If his arguments are successful, it could overturn the conviction, reduce the sentence, or lead to release earlier.
