WASHINGTON, DC: Social media users circulated an image claiming to show musician Kid Rock speaking to officials and service members inside the Pentagon’s press briefing room about the Strait of Hormuz. The claim emerged as the United States, Israel, and Iran continued to focus on the strategically vital Middle East shipping route amid ongoing ceasefire negotiations.

Claim: Kid Rock addressed Pentagon officials about Strait of Hormuz

An X post sensationalized an event by claiming that Kid Rock addressed Pentagon officials about the Strait of Hormuz, accompanied by a photo of him speaking at a podium in a Pentagon briefing room before military personnel on April 28. The post quickly prompted confusion online, with some users questioning whether the image was generated using artificial intelligence.

The rumor originated from X user Spencer Hakimian (@SpencerHakimian), who first posted the claim about an hour after US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth shared related images.

Hakimian wrote, “JUST IN: Kid Rock addresses The Pentagon on the Strait of Hormuz.” Following this, other users reposted the image and repeated the claim across platforms including Bluesky, Facebook, Reddit, Threads, and X. Media coverage from AlternativeNation.net also amplified the story, citing reporting from MiddleEastEye.net.

Hakimian later shared a short video on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube using the same image and repeating the claim, while adding commentary questioning the situation. His posts included humor cues such as hashtags like #funny, #meme, and #comedy, and he also published additional joke content involving Kid Rock and President Donald Trump, treating the episode as satirical commentary on the musician’s Washington appearance.

Fact Check: Kid Rock debunks the claim circulated along with an image

Pete Hegseth shared the image on social media, confirming its authenticity. However, the caption claiming that Kid Rock addressed the Strait of Hormuz turned out to be false and originated from an X post by a user known for sharing fictional and humorous content.

The rumor that Kid Rock aka Robert Ritchie delivered remarks on the Strait of Hormuz began as a joke online, even though the image itself was genuine.

Hegseth posted the photo on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and X on April 27, 2026, as part of a slideshow highlighting Kid Rock’s visit to Washington. During the visit, Kid Rock greeted service members and also rode on an Army Apache attack helicopter departing Fort Belvoir in Virginia. Hegseth later teased the helicopter ride, writing, “More to come on that!”

Searches across Bing, DuckDuckGo, Google, and Yahoo, along with reverse image checks, showed widespread reposts of the image alongside the false claim about the Strait of Hormuz. Some users shared the photo without mentioning the strait, while others amplified the inaccurate caption.

Kid Rock also responded to the rumor directly, writing: “Fake News! I was actually addressing them on the state of your Mom and that she is still open for ‘business’ - Your welcome. Kid Rock.”
