Fact Check: Is image showing Jeffrey Epstein posing with Courtney Love real?
WASHINGTON, DC: In January 2026, under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, the Department of Justice (DOJ) released millions of additional pages, images, emails, and other materials related to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.
In late February, a rumor circulated online in the form of an image claiming to show Jeffrey Epstein posing with singer Courtney Love. But is there any truth to this? Let us find out below.
Claim: Jeffrey Epstein poses with Courtney Love in viral image
Several social media users shared a photograph they claimed showed Jeffrey Epstein posing with singer Courtney Love.
An X user shared the image and wrote, "I think I figured out what really happened to Kurt Cobain. I mean, come on, do you trust Courtney Love?"

Similarly, a Facebook user also shared the viral image. Some Italian and French-language X posts also shared the purported image online.
Several big names, such as Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Prince Andrew, Les Wexner, and a few others, have been mentioned in the files.
However, it must be noted that being named in the files does not automatically mean wrongdoing or criminal involvement. The larger 2025–2026 DOJ releases added emails, prison records, and more, but focused on transparency rather than new prosecutions.
Fact Check: False, image originated from satirical X account
The claims in the online posts are false, as the image shared online is not authentic and originated from a satirical social media account.
The X account @MrViper that first shared the post mentioned in its bio, "It’s all fake • Laugh about it • No Dms • Charlie Kirk was a future President • GFL."
Moreover, the X user also reminded other X users in the comments to go through the bio, confirming that the post was fake.
Furthermore, Snopes ran the image through the SynthID check. This tool scans for embedded watermarks by artificial intelligence software, and detected a SynthID watermark, concluding, "All or part of this image was created or edited using Google's AI tools."
Hence, the viral image purportedly showing Epstein with Love is not real. The image was digitally fabricated and originated on a satirical account. There is also no verified evidence that it represents an actual moment.
Jeffrey Epstein died in a Manhattan jail cell in August 2019, while awaiting trial. His death, ruled as suicide, sparked intense scrutiny, conspiracy theories, and investigations into jail failures.
His longtime associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, was convicted in 2021 for aiding Epstein and is serving a 20-year sentence.
