WASHINGTON, DC: Republican Congressman Tim Burchett shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) purporting to show American rock musician Jack White calling Donald Trump supporters "fascists" and demanding that they stop listening to his music.

But is this video legitimate, or is there more to the story? Let’s find out the truth below.

House Republican Israel Caucus member Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) speaks during a news conference about the military conflict between Israel and Palestinians in Gaza outside the U.S. Capitol on May 19, 2021 in Washington, DC. Laying blame with President Joe Biden, many of the caucus members were critical of Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and other members of Congress known as

Claim: Jack White blasted Trump supporters calling them 'fascists'

The claim gained traction after Representative Tim Burchett, a Republican from Tennessee, shared a video on X on December 29, 2025 (now deleted) depicting Jack White apparently telling Trump supporters, "Don't even think about listening to my music, you fascists."

Burchett added a caption mocking the musician's appearance, comparing him to a character from 'The Addams Family'.

He wrote, "That cute little girl from the Addams Family got really ugly and angry.”

It is to be noted that the clip, which was shared by Burchett, was uploaded by @MAGAresponse on X, which has also been removed.

The clip quickly spread across multiple social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram, and after seeing it, the musician posted a direct response on his Instagram.

Fact Check: The video was generated using AI, Jack White said on Instagram

The video is fake. White personally debunked the footage in a lengthy Instagram post on December 30, 2025, calling it "an AI-generated video, containing a false comment that I never said."

In his Instagram post, the rocker said, “Can you believe that a U.S. congressman, that's right, a CONGRESSMAN (from my state no less), a once hallowed and respected position in our society, would repost an AI generated video, containing a false comment that I never said and refuted (without researching that I might add) and like a 10 year old on a playground, add to it attempted insults to my physical appearance?"

Further investigations revealed that the visual portion of the deepfake was repurposed from the actual footage of White’s speech at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in November, where he wore the same red jacket and white tie but never mentioned Trump or fascism.

Jack White’s history of actual criticism of Trump

While the video shared by Burchett was fabricated, White has a history of criticizing Trump.

In 2024, White filed a lawsuit against the Trump campaign for the unauthorized use of The White Stripes' hit 'Seven Nation Army' in a campaign video.

On his social media accounts, White has frequently used strong language to describe the president, previously calling him a "vile, egomaniac" and an "aspirational dictator."

Though the specific "fascist" quote in the AI video was fake, White has used similar terminology in the past, once writing on Instagram regarding his music, "Don't even think about using my music you fascists."
