ATLANTA, GEORGIA: Launching a scathing criticism against House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis accused him of repeatedly attacking her office.

On Monday, May 20, Willis claimed the lawmaker who is investigating her misconduct allegations as she prosecutes Donald Trump's election interference case in Georgia is attacking her office without valid reasons, according to The Hill.

Fani Willis says Jim Jordan's actions are 'disgusting'

During an interview with MSNBC's Rachel Maddow, Willis spoke about Jordan who subpoenaed her in February over allegations of mismanagement of federal funds.

"Jim Jordan has, time after time after time, attacked my office with no legitimate purpose," she said.

“Anyone who knows Jim Jordan’s history knows that he only has the purpose of trying to interfere in a criminal investigation," she added.

The conflict between Willis and the Ohio Republican intensified this year when he threatened to hold the Fulton County DA in contempt of Congress if she did not comply with an investigation into her use of federal funds.

Ultimately, Willis cooperated with the investigation but called Jordan's actions "disgusting."

“He has now turned his tricks to, he’s going to look at grant programs, which I invite him to do. And we have complied with his subpoenas, but yet he continues his attacks to try to interfere in a criminal investigation,” she said on Monday, May 20.

“All while his jurisdiction has one of the worst crime rates, has poverty issues," Willis added.

Fani Willis says state-level investigation against her is not legitimate

Facing re-election in the Georgia Democratic primary on Tuesday, May 21, Willis also lashed out at state-level probe against her.

“I bring that up at the federal level because now at the state level, they’ve decided to follow this clown’s lead, and they want to now try to interfere in an investigation. And it’s not legitimate either," she said.

“And so, it shall fail, and it’s not going to go anywhere. But they are trying to attack me at every level,” Willis added.

The controversy surrounding the Fulton County DA's conduct in the Georgia criminal case against Trump has further complicated the handling of the matters as she has been scrutinized over her romantic relationship with prosecutor Nathan Wade.

Wade who was assigned to the case by Willis stepped down from the election interference case in March.

The move comes after Judge Scott McAfee ruled that either Willis or Wade had to recuse themselves.
