ATLANTA, GEORGIA: Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis pledged she would proceed to bring former President Donald Trump to trial in the Georgia election interference case, ABC News reported.

"Nothing that you do will derail the efforts of my staff and I to bring the election interference prosecution to trial so that a jury of Fulton County citizens can determine the guilt or innocence of the defendants," Willis wrote in the letter sent to House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan on Monday, March 25.

The letter was in response to a subpoena issued in February to the DA by the GOP-controlled House for documents about the federal funds used by her office, which is originally directed to support at-risk youth.

Earlier this month, Jordan warned Willis of contempt from Congress if she refused to comply with the subpoena and failed to submit the documents by March 28.

Responding to the Republican Congressman's subpoena, the Fulton County DA slammed the demand for turning in additional documents as "unreasonable and uncustomary" that "would require this government office to divert resources from our primary purpose of prosecuting crime."

Adding her office plans to submit the demanded additional records in the coming weeks, Willis pledged to continue prosecuting felonies in her jurisdiction.

"Let me be clear, while we are abiding by your subpoena in good faith and with due diligence, we will not divert resources that undermine our duty to the people of Fulton County to prosecute felonies committed in this jurisdiction," she wrote.

"We will not shut down this office's efforts to prosecute crime, including gang activity, acts of violence, and public corruption, to meet unreasonable deadlines in your politically motivated 'investigation' of this office," the DA asserted.

She further revealed that her family and staff have been frequently threatened with violent and racist attacks.

Willis emphasized, "Neither those threats, nor anything your colleagues and you say or do, will deter us from fulfilling our duty to bring this case to trial."

After two months of turmoils that stemmed from her romantic relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade, who investigated the election subversion case against Trump, Willis was allowed to continue in the case in mid-March after Wade resigned.

In August 2023, Trump, the GOP presumptive nominee, along with 18 co-defendants, pleaded not guilty to the charges alleging them of attempting to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia.

Internet slams Fani Willis as 'unhinged'

Willis faced online backlash for pledging to continue the prosecution against Trump to bring the election interference case to trial.

One user wrote, "She incredibly corrupt and unhinged!"

"But weak woke incompetent idiots are loved by deranged fani," another person remarked.

A third user added, "She’s an activist, not a true attorney."

"Unfortunately liberals don't seem to comply with laws that they don't like or agree with. Even when the liberal is completely wrong," a fourth response read.

An individual commented on Facebook, "She is so full of herself!!!," and another wrote, "She’s so gross and despicable; how does she still have a job???"

Another user claimed, "It must be exhausting for her, that President Donald Trump lives rent free in her head!!! And she should take that mirror and turn it around take a long look in it cuz she far from innocent!!"
