Man admits to killing his wife over suspected infidelity and burning her body in trash can

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: Freddie Wright, 43, has reportedly admitted to killing his wife and then setting fire to her body in a metal drum to Henderson police detectives, according to KSNV.
The confession came after Wright was taken into custody on November 27 on suspicion of murder in connection to a woman's body being discovered at the Whitney Mesa Park trailhead.
The victim was identified as Janell Bowen, whose husband Wright became the primary suspect in the investigation. The couple and their children had been living in a residence with several other people since mid-November.
Wright has been charged with one count each of open murder, first-degree arson, and destroying evidence, as per the arrest report.
How was Janell Bowen's body discovered?
"On November 21st, at approximately 7.57 pm, the City of Henderson Police and Fire Departments responded to the 1700 block of Sunset Road in reference to a fire incident," read the report.
"Fire personnel were called to the scene to extinguish a fire contained within a metal drum. Once the fire was out, a deceased female was located inside the drum."
The victim was later identified, and the autopsy revealed her cause of death to be asphyxiation by strangulation. The Clark County Coroner’s Office initially believed the manner of death to be a homicide, pending the completion of the investigation.
What did investigation into Freddie Wright reveal?
An individual who shared the home with the couple told the police that Wright kicked others out of the residence around November 18. When they tried to re-enter, the door was locked. It was then that they saw what appeared to be Wright strangling Bowen.
Upon interrogation, Wright reportedly told detectives that he had confronted his wife about another relationship. When Bowen confessed, he admittedly "snapped" and strangled her in rage.
Wright allegedly kept Bowen's body with him for several days, before taking it out, placing it in the metal drum, and setting the remains on fire at the park.
He is currently being held at the Henderson Detention Center without bail. According to the police report, the investigation is still open.
