Fetterman warns Mamdani is fueling 'Constitutional crisis' by defying Supreme Court's Haiti ruling
WASHINGTON, DC: John Fetterman has accused Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani of fueling a "constitutional crisis" after the New York City mayor refused to accept the Supreme Court decision allowing the Trump administration to end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitian and Syrian immigrants.
The Pennsylvania senator warned his fellow party members who turned a blind eye to Mamdani's vow to defy a Supreme Court ruling.
John Fetterman faults Democrats over Mamdani's remarks
During his appearance on Fox News’s ‘Saturday in America’, John Fetterman suggested that Democrats overused the phrase "constitutional crisis" when criticizing Trump, because, in his view, Trump had not actually ignored court orders.
"I haven't seen the freak-out now that the mayor of New York is now saying I'm going to defy the Supreme Court ruling," he told the show host.
Fetterman further expressed his discontent over his colleagues not calling Mamdani out after he defied the court’s ruling on immigration.

The Last Sane Democrat John Fetterman just pummeled Mamdani for his blatant SCOTUS defiance.
Unconstitutional lawlessness like this should have consequences — including stripping naturalized citizenship and deportation from this nation.

"Many of the members in my party are not calling him [Mamdani] out... [or they are] defend[ing] him, or just say[ing] we really actually have to follow the court rulings because… that's a constitutional crisis, when you have the leader of the country's largest city [saying] we're not going to follow or honor what the Supreme Court says," he explained.
Fetterman’s statement came after the court observed two remarkable rulings in favour of Trump’s efforts to reshape America’s immigration policy, as the federal government tries to reduce asylum claims.
Zohran Mamdani rejects Supreme Court's TPS ruling
Mamdani, regarding the court’s ruling on the revocation of TPS for Haitian and Syrian immigrants, said the ruling was not something his administration "will ever accept."
In the Mullin v Doe case, the court ruled that Haitian and Syrian nationals in the United States with Temporary Protected Status (TPS) could not receive judicial relief postponing the revocation of their status while they challenge the Trump administration’s efforts to revoke it in court.

In another ruling, the court held that migrants who are turned away at the border before entering the United States are not entitled to apply for asylum. Combined, both rulings offer the Trump admin a free hand to limit asylum claims.
Fetterman has repeatedly warned against far-left politicians like Mamdani, who have appeared to gain steam within his party.
