NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Fox News host Greg Gutfeld blasted the mainstream media during a recent segment, arguing that outlets like CNN have lost public trust beyond repair.

Speaking on Saturday, February 14, Gutfeld said he no longer sees any reason to take major media organizations seriously following their coverage during the Biden administration.

Fox News' Greg Gutfeld compares CNN to 'cheating spouse'

“We're way past the part of caring about what CNN or anyone in the mainstream media has to say about anything because there's no coming back from the Biden era,” Gutfeld said.

“We are under no obligation to believe or even take them seriously.”

He continued by questioning whether there is anything he would still trust from such outlets.

“I keep trying to think, is there anything I would take seriously if it came from the mainstream media? The weather, sports scores, celebrity deaths. That's really small turf, and it could be done by AI so I can't envision what else you could trust them on,” he said.

Gutfeld then compared CNN to “a constantly cheating spouse who gaslit you", adding that even if the network attempted to change course, viewers would likely “just move on.”

Several social media users reacted to Gutfeld's comments with many agreeing with his remarks.

A social media user accused mainstream media of betraying the larger public interest.

A commentator wrote “The mainstream media has only deceived Americans under Biden. That trust is gone. We no longer need CNN or MSNBC to tell us what to think.”

Another commentator wrote “The mainstream media lost all credibility long ago. No coming back from this mess.”

Panel reacts to Kaitlan Collins' clip

Gutfeld's remarks came as the panelists on Fox News' "The Five" discussed a clip of Kaitlan Collins speaking on Heather McMahan’s 'Absolutely Not' podcast, which aired Wednesday, February 11.

In the clip, Collins pushed back on claims of media bias against conservatives.

“They always argue the media is biased against them, it doesn't cover them fairly, even though we cover them I think fairly and accurately,” Collins said.

Collins was here referring to allegations made against the mainstream media's coverage, often by right-wing leaders, including President Donald Trump.
