Also, is it normal that he protects his tweets on X with 3,000,000+ followers? I agree it’s time to do the polygraph and help rule them out. pic.twitter.com/OMyUpoDs2x
TUCSON, ARIZONA: Fox News host Greg Gutfeld sparked controversy by suggesting Savannah Guthrie take a lie‑detector test amid widespread media attention and public concern over the disappearance of her 84‑year‑old mother, Nancy Guthrie.
Savannah, who has taken a leave of absence from work following her mother’s disappearance, has been earnestly urging the public to come forward with any information that could aid in locating her. The host's comment drew sharp criticism from many who saw it as insensitive amid a deeply personal family crisis.
Public outrage over Greg Gutfeld’s comments on Savannah Guthrie
Gutfeld proposed the idea while discussing the case on air, saying that administering a lie detector could help rule out individuals and “put necessary pressure on others inside and outside the circle to do the same.”
One user said, "Savannah? That's cold. What would she have to gain by harming her mother? Polygraph tests are not always accurate. Some people can control their emotions enough to pass the test when they are lying."

Another user commented, "That’s a crazy thing to take a polygraph test means they’re suspects I don’t think so. That’s that’s crazy. Why would they do this? Savannah has plenty of money. I don’t know about the brother and sister, but a polygraph so that they won’t be on the suspicion forget about that."

Details surrounding the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie
A purported ransom demand of $6 million in Bitcoin was reportedly received by the family, though law enforcement has questioned its legitimacy. The deadline for the ransom passed without any updates, prompting officials to suspect it may have been "a hoax."
Investigators also found significant physical evidence at the location where Nancy was last seen. Blood traces were discovered, and forensic teams confirmed that the DNA did not belong to Nancy or her close contacts.
Authorities also clarified earlier reports regarding gloves found during the investigation. “Several gloves have been located during the investigation. The closest gloves were found approximately two miles from the home,” stated the sheriff’s press release.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Office reported that its SWAT team conducted an operation in a Tucson neighborhood on Friday night in connection with Nancy. Earlier this week, authorities released newly recovered images and video showing an armed gunman who reportedly tampered with the surveillance camera at Nancy's home on the morning of her disappearance.
In addition, the FBI has launched a dedicated webpage about Guthrie's disappearance, featuring photos and videos related to the case.
