TARRANT COUNTY, TEXAS: A Texas man who recently gained fame for his ultra-lavish, multi-million dollar wedding in Paris, is now facing up to 99 years in prison after allegedly opening fire on police officers in March this year.

Jacob LaGrone, 29, appeared in a Tarrant County courtroom on Thursday, November 30, after a grand jury indicted him on three counts of aggravated assault on a public servant. The charges stem from an incident on March 14 in which LaGrone allegedly shot at three police officers who were responding to reports of gunfire in Westworth Village, Texas, as reported by PEOPLE magazine.

Jacob LaGrone’s opulent wedding celebrations

Just weeks ago, LaGrone’s opulent wedding celebrations drew international media attention as details emerged of the over-the-top nuptials he shared with bride Madelaine Brockway.

The couple reportedly spent $59 million on a five-day extravaganza in Paris, including an overnight stay at the Palace of Versailles, a private lunch at the Chanel Haute Couture Suite, a rehearsal dinner at the Paris Opera house, and a reception performance by Maroon 5.

Dubbed by many as “the Wedding of the Century", photos and videos of the ceremony’s glitz and grandeur went viral on social media, turning LaGrone and Brockway into Internet celebrities. But the fame and happiness were short-lived.

Jacob LaGrone faces prison term if convicted

According to officials in Westworth Village, Texas, officers C Munoz, C Wilson, and J Dunlap came under attack while responding to reports of gunfire on March 14.

“They were fired upon,” Westworth Village authorities told local news station WFAA 8.

An indictment obtained by WFAA said LaGrone “did intentionally and knowingly threaten imminent bodily injury” to the three officers. It also stated that he “did use or exhibit a deadly weapon during the commission of the assault, namely, a firearm".

No further details were provided on where or how the alleged assault took place. But if convicted on the charges, LaGrone faces 5 to 99 years behind bars.

Prosecutors have offered Jacob LaGrone a plea deal

Citing court documents, 'The Dallas Morning News' reported that prosecutors offered LaGrone a plea deal of 25 years. It is unclear if he will accept.

For now, LaGrone awaits trial on three first-degree felony counts. Just weeks ago, he was covering Parisian palace floors in flower petals and toasting his beautiful  wife.

Today, he faces a courtroom and the possibility of spending most or all of his remaining years within the concrete walls of a Texas state prison.
