WASHINGTON, DC: California Gov Gavin Newsom is set to headline a Democratic campaign event called the 'Blue Summer Campaign Kick-Off' in New Hampshire on July 8, reported Fox News. The event is being spearheaded by the New Hampshire House and Senate Democrats in the key swing state.

The decision to have Newsom headline the event following the abysmal performance of incumbent Joe Biden in the first presidential debate against presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump on June 27, leads to increasing speculation that he may be preparing to step in if Biden decides to step down from his reelection race.

"We look forward to welcoming Governor Newsom to New Hampshire to campaign on behalf of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris as we work to once again defeat Donald Trump," shared New Hampshire Democratic Party chair Ray Buckley in a statement.

"Trump has grown increasingly unhinged in his campaign for power," he argued, exclaiming that "it’s never been more important to mobilize Democrats across the state to defeat him and reelect our President, Joe Biden, who has consistently fought for and delivered for New Hampshire."

Sources told Fox News that the Governor would also be campaigning for other Democrats up and down the ticket along with Biden during his stay in the state.

Gavin Newsom states he would continue to support Joe Biden for President

While speaking with reporters in the spin room post-presidential debate, where Biden's performance made many calls for him to step out of the race, Newsom stated, "I will never turn my back on President Biden. I don't know a Democrat in my party that would do so. And especially after tonight, we have his back."

"I spent a lot of time with him. I know Joe Biden. I know what he's accomplished in the last three and a half years. I know what he's capable of. And I have no trepidations," he added, seemingly dispelling rumors suggesting that he is running a shadow campaign.
