MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Former US Representative George Santos has been enjoying his time on social media after being expelled from the House of Representatives on Friday, December 1, 2023.

The disgraced congressman has been up and about since his ousting, racking up hundreds and thousands of dollars in revenue on the personalized video messaging platform, Cameo.

According to a report by Semafor, the former Republican representative from New York’s 3rd congressional district had already pocketed a six-figure sum within 48 hours of his dismissal from Congress.

From glory to fall, and then glory again

Cameo’s founder and CEO, Steven Galanis told the outlet that Santos “is going to be an absolute whale” on the platform.

Initially, Santos charged $75 for a personalized message but as of a week later on Friday, December 8, Straight Arrow News reported that his Cameo site has the videos listed for $500.

These personalized messages range from birthday greetings to roasts, although, ever the people’s champion, Santos has even allowed his potential customers to send him a direct message for $20 if they don’t want to give out $500 for a personalized video.

The former congressman has been accused of misusing campaign funds for personal expenses, including Botox, OnlyFans, and designer clothes.

As a congressman, Santos's entire annual salary was $174,000, however, as evidenced by screenshots shared by Galanis and confirmed by Semafor, he had successfully managed to garner the negative attention he’d received from his ousting on December 1, to rack up more than his previous earning.

He has also been vocal on his other social media platforms, calling out his fellow congressmen on X who had a hand in dismissing him from the House of Representatives.

On Saturday, December 9, Santos took to X to admonish Rep Dan Goldman who’s been in the news for getting sued by his landlord for failing to pay the monthly rent of $45K on a posh Manhattan condo.

Santos posted on X, “Hey @RepDanGoldman this you? I mean we all struggle in life and it’s no shame but the Levi’s trust fund baby who bought a congressional seat and pretends to be a man of the people advocating for the little guy can’t make his 45k a month rent? Not to mention how fucking insane it is that you are expected to pay an annual salary of a hard working person worth in rent every month. Talk about being an elites tone death snob! Stop stiffing people and go pay your rent!”

Internet asks Santos to cool off as former congressman battles his trolls online

People on X urged George Santos to calm down after a user @RagoKatie replied to one of Santos’ tweets by asking, “Can you simply just disappear? I’ll pay for that . One less phoney / fraud in the world to deal with.”

Santos co-tweeted with that reply saying, “Random person suggesting he’ll “pay” to have me “disappear”… this reads like a threat to me. If my limo crashes in the Lincoln tunnel tonight on my way to an event y’all know it was no accident.”

People on social media believe that the former congressman is exaggerating the user’s witty reply to be that of a life-threatening notice, and slammed him for looking too much into it.

One X user said, “Alright, Diana.”

Another user wrote, "Just because someone is sick of listening to you doesn’t mean they are threatening you."

Another user asked, "Whose credit card did you use to pay for the limo??"

One user tweeted, "You poor little man with such a victim mentality."

Another X user remarked, "Wow. You’d think a walking joke would have a better sense of humor."

Finally, this user tweeted, "Stop being a phony fraud, then. The math is simple."
