Geraldo Rivera does a 180 on Trump, says he could ‘sing his praises forever’ after years of bashing POTUS

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Geraldo Rivera just did a full 180 on Donald Trump.
The same guy who once slammed Trump’s character, immigration policies, and even compared him to Adolf Hitler is now praising the president like he’s the second coming of Reagan.
It all happened on Tuesday afternoon, April 8, after Trump stunned everyone with a sudden 90-day pause on most of the tariffs he had just imposed — except for China, which he left hanging.
Rivera, now the title of editor-at-large at NewsNation, couldn't hold back the Trump fanboying on air.
Geraldo Rivera's gushing praise of Donald Trump
“He ambushed China. I believe that he ambushed China. I believe that he suckered the whole world into believing that he was going to go down in this, you know, this Harry Carrey, this suicide mission,” Geraldo Rivera said.

“I just think he wants the best possible deal he can get for the United States of America. God bless him for that. That’s why people really dig the guy. That’s why he’s hard to beat. That charisma is unbelievable," he continued.
This came from a guy who very recently was calling Trump a “sore loser who cannot be trusted to honor the Constitution".
“You know, I could sing his praises forever, and I wonder if I was sitting here and the market was down 2,000 instead of being up, you know, all these thousands, if I would be singing the same tune. I hope so. It just seems to me that this is Trump writ large," Rivera said.
“This is the guy, the way he does business. You know, he suckered China in, trying to put their neck way out there. We’re going to fight you to the end, says President Xi. And guess what? The United States pulls a fast one," he added.
Geraldo Rivera once compared Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler
Just months ago, Geraldo Rivera was singing a very different tune. In fact, he’s been one of Donald Trump’s sharpest critics over the years — despite being a registered Republican and a long-time friend of the former real estate mogul.
He endorsed Kamala Harris during the 2024 campaign. He slammed Trump over immigration. He blasted him over January 6, and absolutely torched his reputation after the 2020 election.
“In retrospect, I wish I had bailed on the Trump train a lot sooner before he threatened the Constitution of the United States with its utter destruction,” Rivera told MSNBC’s Ari Melber on 'The Beat' in October 2024.
And just days earlier, he posted on X (formerly Twitter): “That is why I am voting for Kamala Harris to be our 47th President.” He called Trump a “sore loser who cannot be trusted to honor the Constitution.”

With three weeks to go until Election Day, Donald J. Trump stands a reasonable chance of becoming the 47th President of the United States. Despite assassination attempts, impeachments, special counsels, felony convictions and hundreds of millions in civil penalties,…
Back then, Rivera even reflected on what he called his misplaced loyalty. “I was disappointed in my previous blindness toward Trump because when push came to shove, he was revealed by his own action to be exactly the person that his critics were saying that he was," he said.
And in 2023, Rivera even likened Trump’s immigration rhetoric to Hitler’s.
"Former President Trump’s remark about undocumented immigrants 'poisoning the blood of our country,' is disgusting," he captioned a video post on X. "Not only does it harken back to the Nazi-era, it is also part of the shameful, vile, centuries old tradition of claiming falsely that immigrants carry diseases."

But it sounds like Geraldo has hopped back on the Trump train — at least for now.
