WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump removed the historic Resolute Desk out of the Oval Office to get it "refinished" after Elon Musk's son X seemed to wipe his nose on it, reveals Radar Online.

The commander-in-chief, who is a known germaphobe, reportedly swapped it out for the 'C&O' desk which former president George Bush used.

On Thursday, February 20, Trump posted on Truth Social, "A President, after election, gets a choice of 1 in 7 desks. This desk, the 'C&O,' which is also very well-known and was used by President George H.W. Bush and others, has been temporarily installed in the White House while the Resolute Desk is being lightly refinished – a very important job."

The POTUS added, "This is a beautiful, but temporary replacement."

The swapping takes place after Musk and his four-year-old son appeared alongside the president on live television last week where the young child picked his nose and seemed to put snot on the Resolute Desk, according to Daily Mail.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Trump has shown that he is a germaphobe. In 2020, during his presidential campaign, he said, "I love the people of this country. You can’t be a politician and not shake hands" but admitted that he was "not thrilled" to be sharing all that hand-to-hand contact.

He previously said, per the outlet, "You know, I am a person that was never big on the hand shaking deal throughout my life. They used to criticize me for it or laugh about it or have fun with it."

He added, "But if you are a politician, like, I walk in and the doctors have their hands out, ‘Hello, sir, how are you?’ If you don't shake hands they’re not going to like you too much."

He further said, "And I guess that's my business. I never thought I would be a politician. I guess I'm a politician. But, but the fact is I feel very secure. I feel very secure."

The president's hatred for germs became cleared when then-acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney started coughing as ABC’s George Stephanopoulos interviewed Trump.

The president raged, "I don’t like that, you know. I don’t like that. If you’re going to cough, please, leave the room."

Elon Musk's youngest son X made headlines last week during his White House appearance. Many people even tried to decode what he told the president in a clip that went viral.

In another viral clip, the four-year-old was seen digging his nose and rubbing his fingers on Trump's desk.

Internet divided as Trump removes Resolute Desk from Oval Office

People on the internet stayed divided as Donald Trump removed the historic Resolute Desk from the Oval Office to get it "refinished" after Elon Musk's son X seemed to wipe his nose on it.

A user joked on X, "Baby X is planting bugs all over the Oval Office," while one added, "It must have been hard to snot say anything while watching him do it."

A person also stated, "Boogie Wonderland. I'm dead," whereas one mentioned, "I almost think Elmo instructed the little man to do just that."

Meanwhile, others shared their views on Trump temporarily swapping the Resolute Desk.

A user also wrote, "It's the rug that's the issue. Looks faded and stained," while one commented, "Verry nice desk. He could have also used the OG Oval Office desk the Theodore Roosevelt desk. It has not be used by a president since Nixon and has not been in the Oval since 1961 under Ike. Since 74 the VP has used the Roosevelt desk."

A person added, "I can't wait to see the desk! I would love to see all of them, what a history story for furniture design."

Another stated, "They are both beautiful. But I would pick the Resolute Desk for sure."
