Donald Trump said the Iran war is nearing completion within weeks, claiming US strikes crippled Iran’s military and nuclear capabilities

WASHINGTON, DC: White House officials are very pleased with President Donald Trump’s national address, believing he successfully showed that the Iran war is “nearing completion” while demonstrating the military's success.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio also backed the president’s "peace through strength" stance on Iran, noting that the leadership shown sends a clear message to the world that the United States will defend its interests.

Trump speech reassures Americans as war nears end

White House officials told CNN they’re pleased with how President Trump handled his address to the nation, noting that the president largely stuck to the script and kept his remarks to the planned 20 minutes.

Those officials said Trump did what they aimed to achieve with the speech, which was to “lay out the administration’s justification for the war and sell the successes of the military operations thus far, while also reassuring Americans that the war is nearing completion.”

Officials expressed hope that the formal nature of the national address would restore public confidence, particularly as recent polling suggests that American patience with the ongoing conflict is beginning to decline.

Marco Rubio backs Trump Iran speech

Support for President Trump's strategy also came from Marco Rubio, as he took to X to back the "peace through strength" stance.

Rubio emphasized that “President Trump delivered a powerful speech tonight. He was clear about our objectives in Iran: Destroy their weapons factories, destroy their navy, destroy their air force, destroy their chances of ever having a nuclear weapon.”

He further noted that “the president’s leadership sends a message to the world that the United States will defend its people and its interests, and uphold peace through strength.”



Trump says Iran war nearing completion within weeks

During the address, President Donald Trump told Americans that the Iran war is nearing completion, projecting another two to three weeks of involvement.

He detailed the specific degradation of the Iranian military, stating, “Tonight, I’m pleased to say that these core strategic objectives are nearing completion."

He added, “We’ve done all of it. Their navy is gone. Their air force is gone. Their missiles are just about used up or beaten. Taken together, these actions will cripple Iran’s military, crush their ability to support terrorist proxies and deny them the ability to build a nuclear bomb.”



As the mission moves toward its final stages, the president also took a moment to recognize the human cost of the conflict.

“As we celebrate this progress, we think especially of the 13 American warriors who have laid down their lives in this fight to prevent our children from ever having to face a nuclear Iran,” Trump said.

“We salute them, and now we must honor them by completing the mission for which they gave their lives.”
