MTG says she’s ‘beyond done’ with Trump over Iran war speech

WASHINGTON, DC: Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene lashed out at President Trump after his latest address on US operations in Iran.

The Georgia Republican criticized Trump following his Wednesday night speech, accusing him of abandoning the “America First” agenda she once championed.

“I wanted so much for President Trump to put America First,” Greene wrote on X. “That’s what I believed he would do. All I heard from his speech tonight was WAR WAR WAR.”

Her comments came minutes after Trump concluded a roughly 20-minute address outlining the trajectory of the Iran conflict. “Tonight, I'm pleased to say these core strategic objectives are nearing completion,” he said. “We are going to finish the job, and we're going to finish it very fast. We’re getting very close.”

Trump threatens Iran as Greene lists domestic priorities

During his address, Trump threatened Tehran with aggressive strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure if a peace deal is not reached soon. “We’re going to hit each and every one” of the country’s energy facilities, he said. “We’re going to hit them extremely hard over the next two to three weeks; we’re going to bring them back to the stone ages where they belong. In the meantime, discussions are ongoing.”

Greene’s frustration grew as she highlighted domestic priorities she believes Trump neglected. “Nothing to lower the cost of living for Americans. Nothing to reduce our near $40 trillion in debt. Nothing to save Social Security, which goes bankrupt in just a few years. Nothing to lower the cost of insurance. Nothing to address jobs for Americans. Nothing about education for our children. Nothing about our children’s future. Nothing for America’s future,” she wrote.

“I’m so beyond done,” Greene concluded. “I pray for our military and their families. I pray for innocent people all over the world. I pray for peace and prosperity for all.”

Capitol Hill divides as lawmakers react to Trump’s Iran conflict address

While some Republicans, like Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, have backed Trump’s approach, Democrats including Sen. Andy Kim of New Jersey sharply criticized the speech and military campaign.

“He keeps telling us the war is about to end, but those are just lies. Trump needs to end this,” Kim said. “He cannot be allowed to deploy troops on the ground. He cannot keep making the American people pay billions.”

Trump addressed rising gasoline prices during his speech, framing them as a result of Iranian attacks on neighboring oil tankers.

But that explanation hasn’t satisfied critics. Kim called the ongoing US military campaign “an absolute disaster.”

Not everyone on Capitol Hill is pushing back. Republicans like Scott have rallied behind Trump’s approach.
