LANCASTER, CALIFORNIA: Germarcus Lamar David, a 32-year-old resident of Lancaster, was convicted on Tuesday, March 12, for fatally shooting his four young children and their grandmother on November 28, 2021.

Neighbors reported hearing gunshots and desperate screams emanating from the David family home in the 3500 block of Garnet Lane.

Aftermath of unspeakable tragedy

Upon her return, the children's mother, whose identity remains undisclosed, made the horrifying discovery of her four children: 11-year-old Namyiah, 7-year-old Germarcus Jr, 2-year-old Kayden, and 1-year-old Noah, and her mother, 51-year-old Erika England, lifeless in their home.

Witnesses recalled her gut-wrenching cries echoing through the neighborhood as she grappled with the unfathomable loss, "My babies are gone! They're all dead!"

Unraveling horrors of the gruesome crime

Following the gruesome discovery, David surrendered himself to the authorities at the Lancaster sheriff's station. Subsequent investigations by the Los Angeles County coroner's office revealed the harrowing details of the crime scene, with all victims having suffered multiple gunshot wounds, some inflicted by both a handgun and a shotgun.

Throughout the trial, the prosecution presented compelling evidence, painting a vivid picture of the senseless violence that robbed the lives of innocent children and their beloved grandmothers.

The trial, which unfolded at the Lancaster Courthouse, culminated in a guilty verdict on all eight counts, including five counts of murder and three counts of assault on a child with force likely to produce bodily injury or death.

District Attorney vows support for victims' families

District Attorney George Gascón expressed gratitude to the dedicated jury and trial lawyers for their unwavering pursuit of justice in the David case. "The emotional challenge of presenting evidence of such senseless loss is immense," stated the DA.

"Their courage in pursuing accountability and closure for the victims and their family is truly commendable. We are committed to ensuring that Germarcus David will never harm another cherished grandmother or innocent child again. Our hearts go out to the mother of the children, who has suffered the unimaginable loss of all her children and her own mother in this tragic ordeal."

David awaits his sentencing on April 24 at the Antelope Valley Courthouse.
