ELKHORN, WISCONSIN: Tragically, the lives of Gina Weingart, 37, and her husband, Emerson Weingart, 33, were abruptly ended in the early hours of Thursday, February 1, as they were discovered shot and killed inside the Sports Page Bar.

The recently married couple was discovered dead around 12:10 am, prompting an ongoing investigation by the Elkhorn Police Department and various law enforcement agencies. As of now, no arrests have been made.

Aftermath of the tragic shooting

Jordan Barr, the bar's owner, mentioned that Gina had been working as a bartender at the Sports Page Bar. She had become a familiar face, often seen alongside her husband, Emerson, who was a regular customer at the establishment.

“I believe I speak for our entire Sports Page family by saying we are absolutely devastated by what happened. It is a despicable act of violence that has shaken all of us to our core,” Barr wrote in a Facebook post.

James Dowdal, a resident residing above the bar, expressed the community's collective shock. "It was all taped off, both sides and the back," he remarked, emphasizing that the incident was especially "nerve-wracking" for him, considering his late-night return home.

Elkhorn Police Chief states that the motive in fatal shooting remains unclear

As the police investigation unfolds, the motive behind the fatal shooting remains unclear. Elkhorn Police Chief Joel Christenson stated, "We do not know at this time if it was a robbery or if it was targeted against the individuals. We have no reason to believe that it is. But until we have the evidence at the scene, we can’t determine it was simply a robbery," as per Fox.  

The circumstances surrounding the tragic incident are being probed by the Elkhorn Police Department, the Walworth County Sheriff's Office, the Walworth County Medical Examiner's Office, the Wisconsin State Crime Lab, and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
