WASHINGTON, DC: Conservative lawyer George Conway has called out the Republican Party for not throwing out Republican National Committee (RNC) chair Ronna Romney McDaniel after reports emerged of a phone call made by former President Donald Trump and Ronna McDaniel to two Michigan canvassers.

He also slammed McDaniel for not using her maiden name, Romney, at Donald Trump's request, reported The Hill.

A Trump critic, Conway voiced his criticism in a December 22 interview on MSNBC. "I've got to say this about my former political party. Ronna Romney McDaniel, the woman who changed her name so that it wouldn't displease Donald Trump, I mean this is the sleaziest thing ever," he said.

"Whether or not it's criminal we'll set that aside. It's just the sleaziest thing ever. And if my former political party had any decency or shame, she'd be out on her a**, forgive my language," Conway added.

Based on The Washington Post report, the former President asked McDaniel before she became the RNC chairwoman in 2017 whether she would be willing to stop using her middle name publicly.

In the MSNBC interview, Conway also criticized a reported call made by McDaniels and Trump to two Wayne County canvassers in Michigan, pressuring them not to sign the 2020 election certification. “It’s crazy and corrupt,” said the attorney.

The RNA chairwoman's role in the call was first suspected after The Detroit News obtained the call recordings.

Conway's criticism comes amid Trump, the leading GOP presidential contender, was barred by the Colorado SC as a candidate in the state primary ballot, which also ruled him ineligible from holding the presidency as he violated the 14th Amendment of the Constitution for his role on Jan 6 Capitol insurrection.

Internet slams Republican Party

Reacting to Conway's criticism of his former party, social media users also shared their opinions about the GOP. Many blasted the party for losing their "dignity" and "moral values".

Another user remarked, "That’s just it… the Republican Party as it exists today has no shame whatsoever."

"It's not a party. Old rules do not apply," said a third user.

A fourth user added, "No fear of them acquiring any dignity so..."

One user said, "If the Republicans had any intention of governing, any ethics, any common sense, moral values… they haven’t shown it in at least 8 years."

Another opined, "Well, they have no shame as proven by their every action. And lets be honest, whomever they replace her with will be even more soulless."
