WASHINGTON, DC: Michigan Gov Gretchen Whitmer took shots at Donald Trump and his Supreme Court appointees for limiting the reproductive freedom of American women on the Tuesday, July 9 episode of 'The View'

Sitting at the Hot Topic's table with co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin, Whitmer defended President Joe Biden, saying he is the best candidate to take on Trump in the upcoming election.

Gretchen Whitmer slams Donald Trump for boasting about his role in the upending of Roe v Wade

Whitmer said, "Donald Trump had at least two dozen positions when it comes to a woman's ability to make her own decisions about her life and her health."

She continued, "You cannot trust anything he says on this front. He will go out and take credit for the Dobbs decision, and upending of Roe v Wade, and women struggling to get the care they need to survive a pregnancy or desperately want a pregnancy that isn't going to come to term."

"You have seen that it's his appointees that created this mess for women in America right now. And yet, he tries to soften it. There's only one candidate on this ballot who is absolutely committed to restoring a woman's ability to have reproductive freedom and that's Joe Biden," asserted the 49th governor of Michigan.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is confident in President Joe Biden's chances of winning the 2024 election

When Griffin asked the governor if she believed Biden was the best candidate to go up against Trump in November, citing the growing concerns surrounding his fitness to serve another term, Gretchen confidently stated that she did, reminding the co-host that she was the co-chair of the Biden-Harris reelection campaign.

She touted the campaign's efforts in engaging with the people and the policies of the Biden administration that have sought to benefit the common masses.

"He (Biden) has got an incredibly capable Vice President by his side and we are electing them as a team and I'm excited about it," affirmed Whitmer, later adding that she was open to supporting Kamala Harris if Biden decided to step down for any reason.
