NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Texas Senator Ted Cruz appeared on ‘Hannity’ to share his thoughts on former President and current GOP frontrunner Donald Trump's significant triumph in the Iowa caucuses.

Cruz expressed his readiness to endorse Trump, acknowledging the historic landslide victory.

Following this news, Fox News anchor Sean Hannity took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share his conversation with Cruz with his followers.

However, Cruz faced backlash from the internet as several people slammed the senator after he declared his endorsement for Donald Trump.

Ted Cruz endorses Donald Trump for President on ‘Hannity’

Fox News host Sean Hannity took to X and wrote, “'THIS RACE IS OVER': Texas Senator Ted Cruz Endorses Donald Trump for President [WATCH]. CRUZ, “I am proud to endorse Donald Trump for President of the United States...I believe this race is over."

Hannity’s tweet was posted along with an article from his official website which reported on Ted Cruz’s reaction to Donald Trump’s win in the Iowa caucuses.

He told Hannity, “I am proud to endorse Donald Trump for President of the United States. I look forward to supporting him enthusiastically."

Despite engaging in a fierce battle with Trump during the 2016 election primaries, Cruz now contends that the outcome of the Iowa caucuses underscores the notion that there is only one viable Republican nominee.

He added, “[Iowa] was a dominating victory for Donald Trump: I've got to say, there's no place like the Iowa caucuses. I know it intimately. The men and women of Iowa, they take their responsibility incredibly seriously. They scrutinize the candidates.”

Cruz continued, “"It's an amazing process, and I'm a big believer in letting democracy play out. Well, last night it played out, and I got to say Trump's victory was across the board… Congratulations to President Trump on that dominating victory."

Cruz said. "And at this point, I believe this race is over."

This came after Trump secured an impressive 51 per cent votes in the Iowa caucuses, marking a commanding 30-point victory over Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

DeSantis narrowly clinched second place, edging out Nikki Haley, the former US ambassador to the United Nations and two-time governor of South Carolina.

According to the Texas senator, Trump's decisive triumph in the Iowa caucuses signifies the “compelling” nature of the former president's candidacy.

He exclaimed, “I'm a big believer we need to let the process play out: It did. And the results last night: 51 per cent [of the vote, which included] 98 counties – that's compelling. And at this point, I think the contrast needs to be on substance and policy and records [versus Biden].”

Cruz also noted he is also a top senatorial election target for Democrats as he seeks a third term in the November election.

“I wear that as a badge of honor," he remarked, expressing pride in being the focus of Democrats' attention and criticism as he approaches his re-election.

Cruz further said, “If you are a left-wing Democrat, after Donald Trump, there's nobody in the country you want to beat more than me. And Chuck Schumer has made clear I am his number one target in the country.”

“The Democrats are going to spend $100 million this year trying to beat me and trying to flip Texas blue. Now, that ain't going to happen."

Internet calls Ted Cruz a ‘coward’

Many X users called out Ted Cruz after he endorsed Donald Trump for president.

One person wrote, “What a gutless coward,” and another said, “You lost my vote Ted.”

An X user slammed Cruz, “He just lost his senate race,” and another added, “Like anyone care what Cancun Ted has to say fr.”

One more person called out Cruz, “Of course he did. No one cares about Ted Cruz. His only claim to fame was he was not like by anyone in Congress including GOP but lost that title. Now his only hope is to attach himself to Trump and his base.”

Another expressed, “One thing I know I would never want and that's an endorsement from Ted Cruz.”
