WASHINGTON, DC: Democratic strategist James Carville accused President Donald Trump of failing America in the Iran war, delivering the criticism as the nation celebrated its 250th anniversary.

Carville has repeatedly predicted that Trump would not complete his second tenure. In his latest prediction on the podcast 'Politics War Room', Carville said Trump would resign after the midterms and argued that he had no clue what was going on behind his back.

James Carville calls US-Iran deal a surrender

James Carville mocked the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) reached between the US and Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and start nuclear weapon negotiations, arguing it effectively shows that the US lost the war just as the country readies for its 250th birthday.

Appearing on 'NewsNation' with Chris Cuomo on Thursday night, June 18, Carville called the deal an “instrument of surrender.”

He then praised Trump’s decision to move out of the war zone, given the past experiences of the United States in Iraq and Afghanistan, arguing that Trump did not repeat old mistakes.

He said the best thing former President Biden ever did was to leave Afghanistan.

“And let’s give Trump credit where credit’s due,” Carville said. “He did what Lyndon Johnson did not do in Vietnam. Just get out. He didn’t do what Bush and even Obama did in Afghanistan. Just get out. You understand?” he explained.

“And I’ll give Trump credit. He thought his thing was going the wrong way, and he just quit and got out, and sometimes you got to do that,” he said.

James Carville compares Iran pact to Afghanistan withdrawal

Carville said it was less embarrassing to sign a memorandum of understanding with Iran than to evacuate, as Biden did from Afghanistan.

“Well, we had troops. So it’s harder when you have to have an actual visual of soldiers, of Marines, of airmen being evacuated,” he said. “That’s more humiliating than just signing an instrument with the regime.”

Iran has “always wanted to drive a wedge between Israel and the United States,” he said. “Mission accomplished. The regime cares about one thing: holding domestic power in Iran. They did that. We really, the people that really lost were the opposition in Iran.”

Carville said the deal “really stabbed the Iranian opposition.” He continued, “We lost. Happy 250th, America. You just lost a war.”
