MANHATTAN, NEW YORK CITY: Seth Meyers, the host of NBC's 'Late Night', is known for his satirical take on politics and current events.

On the January 18 episode of 'Late Night With Seth Myers', the host took a jab at Donald Trump who won the Iowa caucus for the second time, but falsely claimed it was his third win during his victory speech in Des Moines.

Trump's false claims of winning makes Meyers label him as 'a serial liar'

Meyers, in an attempt to bring light to Trump's false claims, said, "Well, as predicted, Donald Trump won the Iowa caucus by a large margin. This is the second time Trump has won Iowa after first winning it in 2020. But in his victory speech Monday, Trump claimed he won Iowa three times, which is not true".

The screen then changes to Trump's speech where he was seen claiming, "This has been an incredible experience. The people have been -- This is the third time we've won but this is the biggest win".

Meyers, as best as he does when injecting satire to politics, said, "That's how much of a serial liar Trump is. He embellishes even the stuff that's good for him. It's not enough to win Iowa twice -- this year with over 50% of the vote. He still has to lie to make it even bigger".

"He can't control himself. Trump could win an Olympic gold medal while holding a winning Powerball ticket and becoming the first man to set foot on Mars, and he'd still say, [as Trump] 'You know, I'm also taller than Victor Wembanyama'", he added.

Meyers highlights how 'Trump lost to Cruz in 2016'

However, to clarify, Meyers noted, "Trump lost the Iowa caucus in 2016 to Ted Cruz, but he probably thinks when you defeat an opponent, you also absorb their electoral victories".

To provide context, according to Reuters, Trump, as a Republican presidential candidate, alleged in 2016 that his rival Ted Cruz had unfairly claimed victory in the Iowa caucuses, accusing him of theft.

Trump alleged that Cruz had engaged in misleading campaign tactics, particularly regarding a mailer sent to Iowa voters that implied they had committed a "voting violation." Additionally, there were claims of Cruz's campaign spreading false rumors on the night of the caucuses about Ben Carson dropping out of the race.

Seth Meyers said, "Ron DeSantis finished 30 points behind Trump" (@LateNightSeth/Youtube)

Continuing, Meyers said, "Trump thinks he won not just the 2016 Iowa caucus, but also Most Scraggly at the 2023 Beardy Awards".

Meyers stated, "Now, you might not recall that when Trump lost to Cruz in 2016, he was hardly gracious in defeat, claiming there was fraud, accusing Cruz of stealing the caucus and saying the results should be nullified".

"And that's what high school English teachers call foreshadowing. So, Trump won Iowa decisively, although his two remaining rivals didn't seem to get the message", the host added before changing the segment to Ron DeSantis

Meyers said, "Ron DeSantis finished 30 points -- 30 points -- behind Trump, but acted like he'd actually won".
