NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former President Donald Trump had a perfect successor in mind to replace him on 'The Apprentice,' and it is none other than his daughter Ivanka Trump, according to the New York Post.

Ramin Setoodeh's upcoming book 'Apprentice in Wonderland: How Donald Trump and Mark Burnett Took America Through the Looking Glass' the GOP presumptive nominee revealed that he wanted his daughter to take over for him in the hit reality TV show on NBC.

Trump left the show in 2015 after NBC cut ties with him for making racial remarks about Mexican immigrants, and the broadcasting company brought in actor and former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

"I said, the best person to hire would be Ivanka Trump," the former president revealed in the book, adding, "I didn't press it. But I felt Ivanka would have been by far the best person you could hire."

"NBC didn't like it, because it became like a family thing. But I said, 'There's nobody you're going to hire that will come even close to Ivanka.' They said, 'Huh'… And then they came back with Arnold Schwarzenegger," the White House hopeful recalled.

"It was going to be the three of us. There were talks for a little while about it." Ivanka's brother, Eric Trump, said to Setoodeh. However, the third oldest Trump offspring added that it was hard to say that they were going to run a reality TV show amidst discussions about ending nuclear proliferation.

"I'm not sure the two could have worked in tandem," he noted.

Ivanka held a significant role under her father's presidency as a senior adviser in the Trump administration from 2017 to 2021.

However, she has been away from the political spotlight since the former president lost to Joe Biden in the 2020 elections, and according to the latest reports, she has no intention to re-enter politics.

Internet reacts

Weighing in on former President Trump's latest revelation about his wish for his daughter to assume his role on the reality show, netizens suggested she would have been a better replacement than Schwarzenegger.

One user wrote, "Even he knows she's smarter than her 2 idiot brothers... that's not saying much, but still."

"It's can happen in future," another person remarked, and a third user added, "Looks like Trump was right - AGAIN!"

An individual commented on Facebook, "Would have been way better than Schwarzenegger. That was a ratings disaster."

"She should have. Then she should have run for President because she has many things going for her. She is educated, has poise, class and intelligence. Is easy on the eyes and her first name is not Donald," another Facebook user wrote.
