WASHINGTON, DC: Former House speaker Newt Gingrich has criticized Vice President Kamala Harris’ behavior during the ABC News debate with former president Donald Trump.

In a Fox News op-ed, Gingrich claimed that Harris’ performance was more akin to that of a “spoiled teenager” than a commander-in-chief.

Newt Gingrich further accused political "elites" of valuing “style over substance,” a sentiment he believes was reflected in the debate.

“Harris further hurt herself by spending a large part of her listening time making faces and looking cute," he said.

“It was the behavior of a spoiled teenager, not a commander-in-chief," he added.

Gingrich also condemned the debate moderators, alleging they were biased and part of the political elite that prioritizes appearance over real issues.

“The elites value style over substance,” the ex-speaker wrote, explaining that they often treat regular Americans as if they are incapable of recognizing manipulation.

“Most Americans are not so highfalutin. Most Americans do not appreciate well-dressed, clever people treating them as if they are ignorant and incapable of realizing when they are being manipulated and lied to," he added.

Newt Gingrich argues Donald Trump is a 'down-to-earth guy'

Newt Gingrich continued his criticism of political elites, accusing them of misunderstanding the outcome of the debate.

“The simple fact is: Vice President Harris can’t tell the truth, because an honest admission of her beliefs – and the failures of the last three-and-a-half years – would doom her campaign,” he stated.

Gingrich also praised Trump, describing him as a “great attraction” and contrasting him with Harris.

“You can like him or dislike him, admire him or disdain him, but what you get is the authentic Trump,” said the former speaker, adding, “So, we had a debate between the privileged, protected elitist Princess of the Left and a down-to-earth guy who people understand.”

Newt Gingrich says Donald Trump is a 'regular guy' who doesn't hide who he is

Newt Gingrich said Donald Trump is a regular guy who does not hide who he is.

“It isn’t that President Trump can’t function in high society and country clubs. He owns country clubs," he stated.

"He can afford as many tuxedos as any politician in the country. But he is a regular guy who never hides who he really is,” Gingrich wrote.

In contrast, the former speaker criticized the ABC News debate team for allegedly trying to shield Harris from tough questions.

“The ABC team did all it could to stop President Trump from telling the truth about her,” he wrote, claiming that moderators intervened when Trump brought up sensitive topics.
