LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Joy Behar, a co-host of 'The View,' has raised eyebrows by suggesting that former President Donald Trump's abrupt stance on TikTok may be linked to financial incentives.

The conversation unfolded during a discussion about a recent vote in the House of Representatives regarding the future of the popular social media app.

House vote targets TikTok amid national security concerns

The House vote, which occurred on Wednesday, centered around a bill calling for ByteDance, the Chinese company with ownership ties to divest its interests within six months or face a ban in the United States. This move was prompted by concerns over national security risks associated with TikTok's Chinese ownership.

Trump, who had previously advocated for banning TikTok during his tenure in office, surprised many by opposing the bill. He argued that the legislation would unfairly benefit Facebook, a stance echoed by some House lawmakers, including Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who aligned with Trump's position.

Behar questions Trump's motives on 'The View'

Behar, on Thursday's episode of 'The View,' voiced her skepticism over Trump's sudden reversal, suggesting that financial motivations could be driving his stance.

She quipped, "I’m not on TikTok. I’m on Lipitor. The one thing that interests me about this topic, and it’s very boring to me. I have to say, I’m interested that Donald Trump was against TikTok because he was against China. Right. And they wanted to be tough on China. Right? But now he’s against TikTok. So my question is, who’s paying him? You know, if you give this grifter money, he’ll be pro-immigrants. The guy will be anything pro if you pay him off."

Social media reacts

Online readers have been quick to offer their opinions on the recent allegations surrounding Donald Trump's reversal on TikTok.

One user wrote, "Would not shock me if he was getting paid by china or tiktok. he's desperate for money!"

Another added, "It's true. Trump took a bribe."

Another user replied, "Trump changed his mind to trigger the Democrats."

One user wrote, "Viktor Orban was visiting Donald and then Donald changed his mind. Do the mind work. Critical thinking skills is not something MAGA understands."

One said, "No no he is a messenger for Putin, you don't follow world events do you? More to be had outside of Fox propaganda."
