'It's disrespectful': 'The View' hosts slam Madonna for being late at her own concert
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: The January 19 episode of 'The View' had co-hosts Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin share their takes on the lawsuit filed against the pop-icon Madonna by two men in New York.
The 65-year-old singer went up on stage on December 13 for her 'Celebration Tour' concert at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn two hours after the time printed on the tickets, which resulted in the lawsuit, according to the New York Post.
Behar, who introduced the subject at the Hot Topics table, stated, "I personally wouldn’t wait two hours to get a hot oil massage from George Clooney, much less a concert by anybody."
Sunny Hostin feels lawsuit was unjustified
Claiming that being late was a part of Madonna's "allure," Hostin suggested audiences prepare for a Madonna concert like tourists do in Times Square for New Year’s Eve.
“I don’t think she should be sued,” she said. “This is baked into Madonna. She’s an icon. She’s always late … When you go to a Madonna concert, you know you have to eat before, you have to get lit before, and you’re going to wait about two hours and listen to a DJ.”
However, she did admit that there are other icons who go by the clock, saying, "John Legend’s on time. JLo’s on time. Beyonce’s on time.”
She found some support with Griffin, who called the Madonna concert she attended the “best live show I’ve ever been to." But she followed by sharing that her friend had to leave the show to get home to relieve her babysitter.
“She saw 20 minutes of the set and had to leave. It’s just disrespectful to an audience that loves you and spent a lot of money to be there."
Sara Haimes was royally mad at Madonna
"Insert any person’s name who are two hours late. It’s disrespectful. You’re literally flipping off your fans who paid to come and watch you. You can be a diva. You should not act like a diva. To me, Madonna is not there," she stated.
Pulling comparisons, Haines continued, "Beyonce? Always on time. Taylor Swift, Pink, that’s called respectful. It’s how you’re raised. You respect someone’s time the way you expect them to respect yours. You showed up here. They paid hundreds of dollars.”
Madonna, Live Nation, and the Barclays Center are all yet to address the lawsuit, reported the Post.
