MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: In the aftermath of former President Donald Trump's civil fraud trial, Judge Arthur Engoron who presided over the case, imposed a financial penalty of $364 million on Trump and his company.

In his 92-page order, Engoron expressed his disapproval of Trump's behavior and included a lengthy section that denounced Trump's "refusal to admit error", according to a report by Daily Mail.

During the trial, Judge Engoron faced repeated attacks from the 77-year-old GOP presidential frontrunner, who directed his ire at the judge and his chief clerk.

In response, Engoron imposed a gag on the former POTUS, prohibiting him from making certain attacks during the trial.

What did Judge Engoron say on Friday when announcing hefty $355 million fine for Trump?

Engoron quoted English poet Alexander Pope saying, “To err is human, to forgive is divine,” before ripping into Donald Trump for failing to adequately defend himself in the courtroom despite the fate of his multimillion-dollar business organization at stake.

Judge Engoron wrote in his 92-page order that the defendants “apparently are of a different mind. After some four years of investigation and litigation, the only error (“inadvertent,” of course) that they acknowledge is the tripling of the size of the Trump Tower Penthouse, which cannot be gainsaid.”

“Their complete lack of contrition and remorse borders on pathological,” he stated while declaring his verdict which comprises the $355 million fine for Donald Trump, with about $4 million each for Donald Trump Jr and Eric Trump, plus $1 million for former Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Trump Organization, Allen Weisselberg.

The blow was delivered after former President Trump adopted a contentious legal approach, often expressing his disapproval of the proceedings from inside Judge Arthur Engoron's New York courtroom.

On his final day in court, he left the proceedings in a rage.

Additionally, the former president accused Judge Engoron of being influenced by his chief clerk Allison Greenfield, whom he falsely accused of being Senator Chuck Schumer's “girlfriend”.

Following the staggering $355 million judgment against him, Trump showed no sign of remorse.

His legal representative pledged to appeal Friday’s verdict.

How did Trump respond to Friday’s verdict by Judge Engoron?

Trump posted on Truth Social on Friday, “This “decision” is a Complete and Total SHAM. There were No Victims, No Damages, No Complaints. Only satisfied Banks and Insurance Companies (which made a ton of money), GREAT Financial Statements, that didn’t even include the most valuable Asset - The TRUMP Brand, IRONCLAD Disclaimers (Buyer Beware, and Do your Own Due Diligence), and amazing Properties all over the World.”

“All the other side had was a ridiculous $18 million valuation of magnificent Mar-a-Lago, an unConstitutional Gag Order, a Consumer Fraud Statute never before used for this purpose, No Jury allowed, and a refusal to send this disgusting charade to the Commercial Division, where it would have been put to a deserving end..,” the former POTUS wrote.

In his ruling, Judge Engoron took the opportunity to critique the approach employed by Trump, stating that while the behavior that led to his finding of fraud was certainly unacceptable, it nevertheless fell short of some of the most egregious criminal offenses.

“They are accused only of inflating asset values to make more money. The documents prove this over and over again. This is a venial sin, not a mortal sin,” Engoron posited.

“Defendants did not commit murder or arson They did not rob a bank at gunpoint. Donald Trump is not Bernard Madoff. Yet, defendants are incapable of admitting the error of their ways,” he added.

“Instead, they adopt a ‘See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil’ posture that the evidence belies. This Court is not constituted to judge morality; it is constituted to find facts and apply the law. In this particular case, in applying the law to the facts, the Court intends to protect the integrity of the financial marketplace and, thus, the public as a whole,” the New York judge explained.

“Defendants’ refusal to admit error—indeed, to continue it, according to the Independent Monitor—constrains this Court to conclude that they will engage in it going forward unless judicially restrained. Indeed, Donald Trump testified that, even today, he does not believe the Trump Organization needed to make any changes based on the facts that came out during this trial,” Engoron noted.

The judge's order commands Trump's company ”from applying for loans from any financial institution chartered by or registered with the New York Department of Financial Services for a period of three years,” which limits its own options.
