NEW YORK CITY: Former President Donald Trump made new accusations this week against New York State Attorney General Letitia James and Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron, who are overseeing the civil fraud lawsuit against Trump and his business, as reported by The Hill.

In messages posted on his Truth Social platform, Trump labeled James as "racist" and described Engoron as a "radical" and "political hack." He asserted that both the judge and attorney general were "causing grave damage to our Justice System" with their management of the case.

The civil lawsuit, filed in September 2022, alleges Trump and the Trump Organization engaged in years of financial fraud by deliberately misrepresenting the value of assets on financial statements to obtain favorable loans and tax benefits.

Trump has denied any intentional wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty.

The recent attacks come after Engoron upheld a gag order barring Trump and his attorneys from making public statements about the judge or his staff.

The order was imposed after Trump falsely referred to one of Engoron’s clerks as Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s “girlfriend” on social media.

Justice Arthur Engoron rejects requests from Trump’s legal team to issue a directed verdict

On Monday, December 18, Engoron also rejected requests from Trump’s legal team to dismiss the case or issue a directed verdict in his favor.

In his ruling, Engoron disputed arguments made by Trump’s accounting expert during testimony and dismissed claims that the statute of limitations protects Trump from charges of past financial misconduct.

“Closing is not a get-out-of-jail-free card for future misstatements,” Engoron wrote.

He added that despite Trump's assertion that his lenders were content, "the fact that the lenders made substantial profits and were content with the transactions does not negate the fact that they suffered damages by lending at lower interest rates than they otherwise might have."

Closing arguments in the trial are scheduled for January 11, 2023. If found guilty of the fraud and conspiracy charges, Trump could face a range of civil penalties.

Trump faced another major setback lately as Colorado's Supreme Court ruled against his eligibility to run for president in the state, citing an insurrection clause tied to the Capitol riot three years prior.

Trump's campaign criticized the decision, labeling it anti-democratic and pledging to appeal.

Internet sides with Trump in a tirade against Letitia James and Arthur Engoron

Online platforms are rife with discontent directed at James and Engoron, with numerous individuals accusing them of bias and activism instead of impartiality. Voices across these platforms express sentiments of distrust and condemnation.

One user on X expressed, "They both belong behind bars." Another comment highlighted their perceived lack of seriousness and impartiality, stating, "Not serious about their job. Letting feelings blind them with hatred."



 



 

Amid the outcry, a user concurred, affirming, "Yes, they indeed both are hate-filled."

Moreover, skepticism emerged regarding their objectivity, with a comment asserting, "These woke activists have already decided that Trump is guilty. But any 'conviction' will easily be overturned on appeal."



 



 

Amid these reactions, a succinct yet resolute comment emphasizes the prevailing sentiment: "No doubt about it."



 



 



 

Meanwhile, in response to the Colorado Supreme Court's ruling disqualifying Trump from running for president in the state, GOP Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel condemns it as "election interference." She emphasized, "The Republican nominee will be decided by Republican voters, not a partisan state court," underlining the party's commitment to contesting the decision.
