'He's gonna flip': Fetterman's joint fundraising with GOP senator fuels party-switch chatter
WASHINGTON, DC: Democratic Senator John Fetterman, who has often grabbed headlines for appreciating GOP policies and criticising his party colleagues, has now ignited the party switch speculations by launching a joint fundraising with a Republican Senator.
Pennsylvania’s two senators, despite being from opposite parties, are banding together in a joint fundraising effort in advance of the 2026 midterms and 2028 election cycle. The new fundraising committee, called Common Ground PA, registered with the Federal Election Commission.
FEC records showed that Common Ground PA listed four joint fundraising PACs: Every Vote PAC, Pennsylvania Honor, Fetterman for PA, and Friends of Dave McCormick.
“Fetterman is listed as the leadership PAC sponsor for Every Vote PAC, while McCormick is named as the leadership PAC sponsor for Pennsylvania Honor,” local media reported, citing the filing.
Mike DeVanney, a McCormick campaign spokesman, said to The Center Square, “This is a donor-driven effort. This group of donors value the collaboration exhibited by Senators McCormick and Fetterman for Pennsylvania and want to support both of them.”

Critics say John Fetterman might switch
Fetterman's repeated clashes with the Democratic Party's progressive wing, particularly over Israel and the rise of Democratic Socialists, have fueled speculation that he could eventually switch to the Republican Party as control of the Senate remains closely contested.
Fox News’s liberal host Jessica Tarlov highlighted Fetterman’s recent teaming up with McCormick and said, “So so bad.”
Rick Wilson, the longtime political operative and anti-Trump activist, speculated that Fetterman is “gonna flip.”
John Fetterman criticizes Democratic Socialists' growing influence
Sen John Fetterman (D-PA) distanced himself from the Democratic Party's progressive wing, arguing that members of what he called the "dirtbag left" no longer belong under the Democratic banner.
Speaking during an interview at the Kennedy Center's Mark Twain Prize event, Fetterman said the recent victories of Democratic Socialists of America-backed candidates reflected the rise of a political movement he believes is fundamentally different from mainstream Democrats.
"It was a really it was a really big night for the dirtbag left. You know, last week, without a doubt," he said.
The senator argued that some of the views expressed by the movement were incompatible with the values of the Democratic Party.
