WASHINGTON, DC: Eric Trump, former President Donald Trump's third born, defended his wife Lara Trump's position as the Republican National Committee co-chair, stating it was needed to "restore trust" and clean the organization of "Never Trumpers," reported Mediaite.

RNC elected Lara and Micheal Whatley as new co-chairs in March after former chair Ronna McDaniel stepped down. Days into their ascension, the new leadership started mass layoffs of around 60 people who worked in the political, communications, and data departments to ensure the organization's alignment with its vision.

In an interview with Brian Kilmeade on 'Fox and Friends' on Wednesday, April 10, Eric lauded his wife and Whatley's leadership, claiming they have done a "great job."

The host pressed about the necessity of Lara and Whatley to take over the leadership, pointing out Lara's decision to go across the country despite having two little children.

“They had to restore trust in the RNC. The first thing that they did is they went in there, and they got rid of the vast majority of the RNC, and there were a lot of Never Trumpers there, I hate to say it,” Eric said.

He added that there were no more “silly” expenses, and removing "Never Trumpers" positively impacted the RNC. “The second they did that, all of the sudden the spigots got turned on and, you know, there was confidence,” the presumptive GOP nominee's son said. “The RNC and the campaign are working as one right now.”

Lara's takeover of the RNC leadership, endorsed by Trump, came when the latter's presidential campaign lagged behind President Joe Biden's fundraising. Though both campaigns still have a wide disparity, Trump and the Republican party together raised above $65.6 million in March.

In addition, she once hinted at the RNC paying her father-in-law's massive legal bills but retracted the possibility later. Recently, she asked the poor supporters who cannot donate right now to save up to $5 to support Trump.
