WASHINGTON, DC: Hillary Clinton pointedly joked that Vice President Kamala Harris did not have former FBI director James Comey waiting to sabotage her campaign during an interview with CNN host Kaitlan Collins on Thursday. October 24.

The remarks were made when Collins asked what advice the former secretary of state would give the Democratic nominee to avoid the results she faced during her own bid for the White House in 2016.

Comey had announced reopening the investigation into Clinton’s private email server from her time as the secretary of state days ahead of the 2016 election, according to The Hill.

While it did not ultimately result in any charges, it became a prominent news story. Many Democrats blame Clinton's loss in the 2016 general election on Comey, as she was leading Donald Trump in the polls.

As someone who went against Donald Trump in a presidential election, Kaitlan Collins asked Hillary Clinton, "What do you think Kamala Harris has to do to avoid a repeat (of 2016)?"

The 77-year-old responded, "Well, First of all, I don’t think she has Jim Comey waiting in the wings to kneecap her, so that’s good, and I am very grateful for that."

"But I think she is doing what she needs to do," said Clinton, claiming that Harris was successful in convincing the voters in the network's town hall earlier this week.

The former first lady expressed, "She had shown the kind of empathy and concern about their problems that she’d come forward with her ideas, her suggested policies."

"So I think she’s doing what she needs to do and, from my perspective, you know, that’s not only her job. It’s the job of all of us who are supporting her. It’s obviously the job of the messaging, the advertising, everything that goes into the final sprint to the election," added Hillary.

Internet agrees with Hillary Clinton's remarks

Netizens reacting on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) sided with Hillary Clinton's jibe at James Comey.

One wrote, "Comey deserves far worse than that slap but good for Clinton! BTW, I wonder where we are as a society with her as president instead of Trump. Think about 8 years of competent leadership…we have that choice again."

Another said, "Without Comey’s last minute, unprecedented interference in the 2016 election, we would not be dealing with Trump and Trumpism 9 years later."

"Never, will I ever, forgive Comey for that!" expressed a person, while someone else shared, "This woman is measured, intelligent, absolutely one of the most qualified to ever run for office. Man, we could have had it so good."

"If it weren't for Comey, we wouldn't be living through the nightmare that is Trump," declared an individual.

One more quipped, "Hillary throwing a bit of fire," while another person stated, "Hillary is telling it like it is. If it wasn't for the cowardice of Jim Comey we wouldn't be where we are today."
