PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Donald Trump, while defending his comment that illegal immigrants were "poisoning the blood of our country", has now come up with the claim that he knows "nothing about Hitler," reported ABC News.

Trump, in a radio interview with Hugh Hewitt on Friday, December 22, while responding to the comments he made in the New Hampshire rally, said, "First of all, I know nothing about Hitler. I'm not a student of Hitler. I never read his works."

"They say that he said something about blood. He didn't say it the way I said it, either, by the way. It's a very different kind of a statement. What I'm saying when I talk about people coming into our country is they are destroying our country," the former President added.

Anti-immigrant language has been dominating Trump's campaign rallies as he continues to lead among the Republican presidential candidates. The White House also criticized his New Hampshire speech as "grotesque rhetoric of fascists".

Donald Trump says he never read 'Mein Kamph'

During his campaign in Iowa, Trump said he had not read the German dictator's autobiographical manifesto 'Mein Kamph.' In his conversation with Hewitt, the White House hopeful doubled down on his claim that he never knew Hitler used the same language of "poisoning the blood".

"I never knew that Hitler said it, either, by the way. And I never read 'Mein Kampf'. They said I read 'Mein Kampf.' These are people that are disinformation, horrible people that we're dealing with. I never read 'Mein Kampf,'" he said.

Trump also added that his comments had no racist sentiment.

Following the controversy over his anti-immigrant rhetoric, the media dug out an old interview with his ex-wife, Ivana Trump, where she claimed that the former President kept a copy of Hitler's speeches at his bedside.

Internet reacts to Donald Trump's claims

Social media users, however, do not believe that the presidential candidate who declared he wants to be dictator for one day if elected in 2024, has never read the Nazi leader's autobiography. Many claimed that his denial is the proof.

One user said, "His denial is all the confirmation we need."

Another user remarked, "His habitual denial of actions typically aligns with his actual involvement. It wouldn't be a shock if he possesses Mein Kampf in audiobook format, considering his widely known aversion to reading."

"I know nothing about ( ). Always the same excuse," added a third user.

A fourth user mocked Trump, saying, "Sounds like a typical deflection where he doesn’t know anything about the person. Hitler was just the coffee boy at Mar-a-Lago."

"Last week it was 'I never read Mein Kampf'. Then people found out that he read Hitler's speeches. Not it's 'I never read his works'," stated one user.

Another reaction read, "There's not a surer admission of truth than something Trvmp denies."
