Hot mic catches Indonesian president asking Trump for meeting with son Eric after Gaza summit

SHARM EL-SHEIKH, EGYPT: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto was overheard asking President Donald Trump for a meeting with his son, Eric Trump, shortly after the Gaza peace summit in Egypt on Monday, October 13.
The two presidents, seemingly unaware of the live mic, engaged in a brief exchange behind the podium following Trump’s address to world leaders at the Sharm el-Sheikh summit.
The meeting came in the wake of a newly announced ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
Trump's conversation with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is caught on a hot mic. Hard to tell exactly what they are talking about, but Subianto asks Trump about meeting Eric Trump and Don Jr, who supposedly have nothing to do with government while they run the family… pic.twitter.com/HiBL0ZWKPp

Prabowo Subianto asks Trump whether he can meet his son
In the audio, Prabowo can be heard saying, “Can I meet Eric?” to which Trump responds, “I’ll have Eric call. Should I do that? He’s such a good boy. I’ll have Eric call.”
Prabowo then adds, “We’ll look for a better place,” before suggesting, “Eric or Don Jr” Trump replies once more, “I’ll have Eric call you.”
Both Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr serve as executive vice presidents of the Trump Organization, which oversees real estate, hospitality, and blockchain ventures. The company operates a golf club outside Jakarta and has another project listed as “coming soon” on the Indonesian resort island of Bali.
It remains unclear whether the conversation was related to business or simply a personal exchange. Neither the White House nor the Indonesian Embassy in Washington responded to requests for comment on the recorded discussion. The Indonesian presidential office also declined to clarify the nature of the conversation.
The brief hot mic moment, however, has fueled speculation about the Trump family’s private business interests in Indonesia.

Trump met world leaders on the sidelines of Gaza peace summit
Following his address at the Gaza peace summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, Trump met a series of world leaders in rapid succession, underscoring Washington’s central role in the negotiations that led to the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
The summit, hosted by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, brought together leaders from across the Middle East, Europe, and Asia to discuss post-ceasefire reconstruction efforts and long-term stability in Gaza.
Trump held bilateral talks with French President Emmanuel Macron, Egyptian President el-Sisi, and Jordan’s King Abdullah II, focusing on joint mechanisms for humanitarian aid delivery and the monitoring of ceasefire violations. In a separate meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Trump discussed broader regional security concerns and the role of Gulf nations in financing Gaza’s recovery plan.

Trump said on Monday, October 13, that the second phase of his 20-point ceasefire plan to end the war between Israel and Hamas has “already started.” He made the remark while meeting Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in Sharm el-Sheikh.
“It started, as far as we’re concerned,” Trump told reporters while seated alongside Sisi. “And you know, the phases are all a little bit mixed in with each other. Gonna start cleaning up... if you look at Gaza, it needs a lot of clean up,” he added.
