WASHINGTON, DC: In a fiery display of partisan rhetoric, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La) lambasted President Joe Biden on Tuesday, June 4, branding him the “worst president in the history of the country.”

Johnson's scathing remarks came during a discussion about Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene’s (R-Ga) latest effort to impeach Biden over the ongoing crisis at the US southern border.

Marjorie Taylor Greene delays impeachment vote until consulting with Mike Johnson

On Monday, Greene told reporters of her intent to force a vote that night to impeach Biden but decided to delay until consulting with Johnson, The Hill reported.

The two met Tuesday morning, shortly after the speaker announced he was making “no commitment” on Greene’s impeachment bid.

“In general, the impeachment power is one that we wield very carefully here, as I’ve said so many times. Next to the declaration of war, it’s the heaviest power that Congress has,” Johnson said at a Tuesday press conference ahead of his meeting with Greene. “It needs to be very methodical.”

Johnson did not mince words in his assessment of Biden's presidency. “Look, there’s no question President Biden, I think, is the worst president … I think President Biden’s the worst president in the history of the country, and there may well be impeachable offenses,” he declared.

Johnson also added, “There is an investigation process that’s gone about that has been looked at [by] our committees of jurisdiction, and the process continues, so I’m not making any commitment on that this morning. We have to let the constitutional process and our constitutional responsibility play out.”

Meanwhile, Greene indicated she might trigger the resolution later this week.

Biden announces executive action on border amid GOP criticism

During their meeting, Biden announced a new executive action aimed at curbing illegal border crossings, which turns away migrants seeking asylum when the number of daily encounters exceeds 2,500, according to the source.

This long-expected order, based on the Immigration and Nationality Act, is set to take effect immediately.

Johnson, who preemptively criticized the announcement, dismissed it as “weak” and mere “window dressing.” He argued that Biden and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas have fostered an open border policy for the past three and a half years.

House Republicans likely to table Marjorie Taylor Greene's impeachment resolution

“The evidence is so clear, and now suddenly he wants to issue some weak executive order — one, by the way, one executive order — supposedly to try to address the issue. It’s window dressing. Everybody knows that if he was concerned about the border, he would have done this a long time ago,” Johnson said.

The House is likely to vote on a motion to table Greene’s impeachment resolution or refer it to a committee, similar to how Rep Lauren Boebert’s (R-Colo) impeachment resolution against Biden was handled in June 2023.

House Republicans have long urged Biden to take decisive executive action on the border, but Johnson dismissed the recent order as “too little too late."

Netizens criticize Mike Johnson's remarks on Biden's presidency

A user tweeted, "Mike Johnson has no credibility left, Mike's mad Biden passed a border bill!"

Another said, "YES ABSOLUTELY."

A user added, "Next question: Did you all just snort some blow in the bathroom? Why are you all touching your noses and acting so weird? Swatting at invisible insects. What is going on here? Trump was rated by bipartisan historians as the worst president in history. Who are you kidding?"

"Mike Johnson is worst then Biden," chimed another. [sic]

"IF YOU MAGA MORONS WERE CONCERNED ABOUT THE BORDER ISSUE THEN YOU’D HAVE VOTED FOR THE BIPARTISAN BILL FOR SECURITY! INSTEAD YOU LOCKED YOUR LIPS ONTO TRUMPS ENORMOUS A** AND CONTINUE TO KISS IT EACH AND EVERY DAY! TALK ABOUT WINDOW DRESSING? YOU’VE GOT NOTHING TO CAMPAIGN ON-SO?" read a tweet.
