HOUSTON, TEXAS: In a harrowing incident that unfolded in Northeast Houston, 45-year-old Ernesto Vidaurri was shot dead while on a FaceTime call with his girlfriend.
The shooting occurred inside his residence just off Highway 59 between Tidwell and Little York on Hage Street, casting a grim shadow over the normally quiet neighborhood.
What led to tragic shooting?
The shocking event took place on Thursday, December 7, as Vidaurri conversed with his girlfriend over FaceTime, a routine that turned deadly when he abruptly informed her that something was amiss. Moments later, the unthinkable happened – someone opened fire on Vidaurri, shooting him twice in the chest.
The horrifying details of the crime were unveiled when authorities began their investigation into the chilling FaceTime killing.
Law enforcement gives details
Upon receiving the distressing call, law enforcement rushed to the scene, only to find the assailant had fled. Lt. I Izaguirre of the Houston Police Department explained that the shooting transpired within the confines of Vidaurri's home.
"They cleared the house. There was nobody in there, nobody else was in there, but the shooting did happen inside the house," revealed Lt. Izaguirre.
Motive behind shooting
Investigations point toward robbery as the potential motive behind Vidaurri's cold-blooded murder. Authorities are actively searching for the gunman, who is believed to have made a hasty escape in a blue Chevy Silverado pick-up truck, as per Fox.
A grieving neighbor, already burdened by the painful loss of both his 15-year-old and 22-year-old sons to gun violence, expressed the profound impact such incidents have on families. His older son was tragically killed on Thanksgiving, adding another layer of sorrow to an already difficult holiday.
The heartbroken father shared the ongoing struggle, stating, "It was Thanksgiving. He was supposed to go get his hair cut and they killed him. They were my only sons, my only kids. So, it's been hard. Every day I think of them," says the grieving father.
