WASHINGTON, DC: After a drawn-out legal struggle, Hunter Biden owes his ex-wife $2.9 million. She is likely to be a crucial witness in his upcoming trials, as per the New York Post.

Kathleen Buhle, the first son's wife for 24 years, asserted that Hunter had neglected to pay her over the years for interest, legal bills, and agreed-upon alimony. The couple divorced in 2017.

Notably, not long after he married his present wife Melissa Cohen in 2019, Buhle filed a lawsuit against Hunter. For years, the conflict between Hunter and Buhle has been brewing in the courts of Washington, DC. In 2021, it came to light that Hunter had broken the terms of his divorce settlement.

Moreover, the mother of three of Hunter's five children, will now take the stand when Hunter goes on trial for suspected tax offenses in September, and unlawful possession of guns in a federal courtroom starting next week.

The disagreement is brought up in the tax evasion indictment of the younger Biden by special counsel David Weiss. According to court records obtained by Axios, their separation agreement provided that Hunter would give Buhle $37,000 per month and 50% of any profits exceeding $875,000 yearly.

However, Team Buhle has insisted that Hunter failed to pay Buhle her share in 2017 and 2018, when they claim he earned more than $2 million annually. Her counsel stated to Axios that when she filed for a lawsuit, the alimony completely halted.

According to Hunter's counsel, the circumstance arose from his well-documented decline into heroin addiction. Even after his recuperation, the money has reportedly still been slowly walked, according to a court petition by Buhle's attorneys in April 2023, which was obtained by the publication.

As per Axios, her attorney Wendy Schwartz wrote in the filing, "Ms Buhle previously told this court that the expense and emotional toll this has had on her is enormous and appears to be never-ending. Those feelings have not changed."
